Stabbing at Orloff Park?
Crimes & Incidents, posted by Tim, a resident of the Another Pleasanton neighborhood neighborhood, on Nov 29, 2007 at 8:00 pm

Has anyone else heard that there has been drug dealing and also a recent stabbing at Orloff Park? I heard about this today but don't recall seeing it in the paper. If it's true can't the police do something about the drug dealing? I know that as Pleasanton continues to grow there will be more issues but I'm pretty shocked, if this is in fact true.

After calling the police, they said they were unaware of any stabbing at Orloff Park. I've inquired about the drug dealing from an officer and will let you know if there's anything to substantiate the rumor. Thanks for letting us know.

I do know that my daughters boyfriend and some of his friends were hanging out at Orloff Park one evening, not too late at night and were held up by knife point and their money was taken by several suspects. One of the suspects happened to be wearing a piece of clothing that indicated what school he might be attending. He was also recognized by one of the victems and the police were able to arrest them and take action on the crime. This has happend twice to my daughters boyfriend in the past 2 or so years in our own community of Pleasanton.

Sgt. Barry Mickleburgh of the investigations department said he hasn't heard of drug dealing or violence going on at that park. If you hear of suspicious activity, you may want to call the police at 931-5100.

Drug dealing does not happen at a park, that is the most ridiculous thing i've ever heard. You truly believe kids will meet at a public place to deal drugs?

Yes, drug dealing DOES happen in the parks. My good friend lives in a home that backs up to the Amador Park next to Safeway - and yes - it happens frequently!!

I grew up in a very affluent suburb of New York City, and in high school we used to go to the neighborhood park and smoke pot. I remember standing by a tree near the playground equipment, out in the open. We all noticed a police car parked nearby, but they didn't bother us and we just kept smoking. Teenagers are risk-takers, ever notice how they drive? Of course they do drugs in neighborhood parks.

to ccwc: your friend is probably mistaking a drug deal for something else. Just taking this from experience, real drug dealers don't meet at such places thats just stupid. Drug dealers may meet in a public parking lot but they will do the transaction in their private vehicle. I remember smoking at public parks all the time but theres a fine line between smoking and dealing.
