Weekly Forum Format and Registering User Name Etc.

Original post made by Jon on Jul 9, 2009

Someone has been using my name and location a lot! "Cholo in my opinion is more than a couple of people on any given day, and I think it's a trend to use others NAME and LOCATION for relies, posts and even attack on others.

I have been part of several forums over the years and I have NEVER seen a forum that let's people post without registering. Now, this is part of a newspaper I know, so it's a bit different. A lot of newspapers have "comment" section where no one needs to register, but this is truly a FOUM Format here.

Also the format here is very weak. The weekly could use a free forum format easily that would blow this in the weeds. Also, I think perhaps lately that the Weekly could use a few pleasanton resident moderators, as flames and attacks are on the rise. This using other peoples user names is bad.

Thoughts?

Are you Miss Pitty Pat or what? First you're freaked out about street preachers, michael jackson, and now it registration! Don't you have a job? You seem to have waaaaaaaaaaay to much free time on your hands!

What are flames & attacks? If I were you, I would NOT recommend that people start blowing weed, bad advice. Incidentally, are you gonna recommend somebody like say....mary the sniper to moderate? Shelly (the name means "sheep" and "odd girl"). Or, forever amber the defender of drunk drivers?

I'm considering reporting you to the police for encouraging others to blow weed. enuf is enuf...

Stacey is a registered user.

Welcome to the Town Square Forum, friend. I suggest that you protect your online identity/reputation by utilizing the registration feature and only post while registered. Also, I think it is a very bad idea to have local residents as moderators unless they are employees of the PW.

I agree with the other Stacey in my neighborhood. You should consider registering if you're so freaking concerned about people using "your" identity.

Cholo,

"Don't you have a job? You seem to have waaaaaaaaaaay to much free time on your hands!"

Again your the POT calling the Kettle Black! Geez! I am a lawyer and I practice mostly patent law. Patent Law is like being a Lawyer, computer programmer and Engineer all at one time, try it! It's a very intense line of work, so I get my head out of it every couple of hours. Arrest me!

PW should charge a subscription fee to users who want to post. Viewing could remain free. That would solve a lot of the problems.

My thoughts are...have a friend or relative edit your post for grammar errors. Another option is to review your post before submitting and correct any mistakes you can find.
People are more likely to take a post seriously if it seems as if an educated person wrote it.

With a name like "Jon", I'm as surprised as you that there are so many duplicates. It can't be that people are randomly picking a name like "Jon", it must be a deliberate attempt to steal your identity, Jon!

Web Link

What's so much fun about using another person's handle is that you can deconstruct and then recontextualize what another person posts and then everybody gets mad at them! It's waaaaaaaay cool and a high tech way of playing tag! ya think? It's also another way saying lets you and her/him fight.....cool, cool, and cool +.

Jon, I am waiting for free health care.

Because the real Cholos opinion has not been stated, I will do so now; No, registration will hold back americanisim. Stacey is not a dictator. I love sheep and a partridge in a pair tree.

Please now wait for my "corrections" in my next entry.
