AMERICAN FATHERS

Original post made by Douglas Kendall on Jun 29, 2009

I took my son backpacking for the first time, all weekend.
It was grueling, we were eaten my mosquitoes, and today I'm at work scratching like a baboon.
But I saw my son around a bunch of men, himself growing up into a man, right before my very eyes.

You men out there, raise your sons!
It is an American tradition for a father to do a better job than his father.
I don't care what color, or race, or any other artificial distinction you are. You are an AMERICAN and you love your freedom, and you believe in fair play. THIS is what makes an American man.

And we American men have a STRONG tradition to do better with our boys each generation.

Okay? Yeah, it takes effort and it's annoying, and maybe nobody lifted a finger for us. But we can do whatever we want; we are American men and we are FREE to do so.

And for our boys, it is worth it.

Your posts are self serving and have nothing to do with a community forum. Pretty annoying...

One of Dougs books:
""PLEASANTOPIA" - a rip into Pleasanton, California, the fastest growing affluent community in America; a town drowning in the nearby volcanic wealth of the legendary Silicon Valley."

How COOL it that! Come on guys lighten up will ya!

Doug was reminding us that spending QUALITY one on one TIME with our children is REWARDING and IMPORTANT!

Thanks Doug!

I've already done a better job than my dad and my son is only 8.

He posts here with his name for one reason only -- to increase the Google hits when his name is entered. Self-serving is the only description of his postings. Well, that and completely uninteresting.

If this post is an example of his writing, I'll pass on the books....
