SUNOL — A 17-year-old Pleasanton girl was taken to a trauma center this afternoon after an off-roading accident that occurred about two miles west of Interstate 680.

The girl appeared to have been ejected from and then hit by an off-road vehicle, said California Highway Patrol Officer Steve Creel. He said the accident occurred about 4:20 p.m. on private property near Highway 84.

There were no seat belts or doors in the vehicle Breanna Furphy was riding in with a classmate, Creel said. Investigators say she appeared to be the only one injured in the accident.

Furphy had upper body trauma, Creel said. Friends took her to the California Department of Forestry station in Sunol. From there she was taken to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley. She was scheduled to be transferred by helicopter to Stanford Medical Hosptial for treatment, Creel said.

The incident remains under investigation.

The person who originally posted this article is not me, but another Ann from Amador.

I've had a few calls/emails from people who assumed I'd made this post, but I am sorry, I don't know any more about Breanna's condition than what is posted here.

My thoughts and prayers are als with Breanna and her family.
