Strange that they haven't expressed any misgivings. All those OSHA rules make us less competitive too. If only they left health and safety matters to the free market, profits would be way up.

"President Barack Obama and his team have been having so much fun wielding dictatorial power while rescuing "failed" firms"

Good thing only Democrats do those "rescues". Republicans are above that kind of thing. They're all about the free market. Just ask George Bush or Sarah Palin.

If anybody does not see significance in him using "czars" they are sadly mistaken. Informed people are aware that we are in serious trouble. Oil per barrel is now at 71 dollars per barrel not because of demand but because our currency value is in significant question. Big trouble coming.

Sure, Johnny, there's big trouble. Republicans keep helping out their rich friends with my tax dollars to the tune of $7 Trillion. 71 dollars a barrel surprises you. You can't print that much money and not get inflation. What an opportunity Republicans gave Obama. Now he can consolidate his power. Will anyone actually lead this country?

We all know Wall Street is in it to protect their phony baloney jobs. Every right wing idiot out there is screaming the sky is falling at the top of their lungs. What they will never confess is that they drove away consumers with the erosion of labor value. The only way out of this mess is to raise the value of labor. What Wall Street wants is a race to the bottom. Wake up. The have undermined the economy by selling workers short.

Everyone wants to live at the expense of the state but they forget that the state wants to live at the expense of everyone.

FreeDumb, what exactly do you mean by "labor value" / "value of labor"?

Are there greedy companies that don't give a hoot about the American worker? You betcha!

Are there American companies that care deeply about American workers? Yes. indeed.

Point: Don't paint the entire American landscape with a single brush. We are a land of the truly good, bad and ugly.

Well I guess 200 years of a republic is a good thing and now comes the revolution.

We the people, need to take back our power. We the people, need to understand that the beast is government, at every level. Some of you are uncomfortable with this position. Read what one of our founders wrote:
"We must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt. We must make our selection between economy and liberty or profusion and servitude. If we run into such debts as that we must be taxed in our meat in our drink, in our necessities and comforts, in our labors and in our amusements, for our callings and our creeds...our people.. must come to labor sixteen hours in the twenty-four, give earnings of fifteen of these to the government for their debts and daily expenses; and the sixteenth being insufficient to afford us bread, we must live.. We have not time to think, no means of calling the mis-managers to account, but be glad to obtain subsistence by hiring ourselves to rivet their chains on the necks of our fellow suffers. Our landholders, too...retaining indeed the title and stewardship of estates called theirs, but held really in trust for the treasury, must...be contented with penury, obscurity and exile.. private fortunes are destroyed by public as well as by private extravagance.
This is the tendency of all human governments. A departure from principle becomes a precedent for a second; that second for a third; and so on, till the bulk of society is reduced to mere automatons of misery, to have no sensibilities left but for sinning and suffering... And the fore horse of this frightful team is public debt. Taxation follows that, and in it's train wretchedness and oppression." -Thomas Jefferson Web Link

Judging by recent posts like this one, I guess the Pleasanton Weekly "TownSquare Forum" is now become the offical home of all our favorite local right-wing nutjobs and anti-Obama fear mongers. Much like vampires need human blood, conservatives seem to need hate and fear to survive. Pretty sad.

Tax and spend, spend, spend politicians have run this state and this nation into the ground. They have a D and an R after their names. They all need to be voted out of office, starting with The Messiah, Mr. Community Organizer: B.H.O.

Karen, I just read this thread carefully. Please point out who, from a right of center perspective, wrote anything hateful. The only hateful and immature things written have come from you and your Fellow Travelers. LOL!

Frank Lee,

I see what you are saying and do not understand saying the things they do without backing it up with facts but it could very well be that they are uninformed but the evidence is quite compelling. Every single economic indicator says we are going in the wrong direction and quickly in the wrong direction. They released the new unemployment claims for May and the administration was excited because we ONLY lost 601,000 jobs in May!!! Obama promised that if the stimulus plan were passed it would create or save 2,500,000 jobs in 2009, we have now lost including May over 3,100,000 jobs!!!
