Yes, I hear the Right Wing Radicals crying about "more taxes" and bashing the teachers, for being compensated justly!
The Pleasanton community has retained property values BETTER than MOST communities in California, BECAUSE of the SCHOOLS, similar to Palo Alto.
The average decline in property value in CA is reaching 60%!!
The median income in Pleasanton is WAY above most communities.
Measure G may have not been a perfect solution, but we are not a perfect society with perfect solutions.
The REPUBLICAN Governer has run California into the ground! To little, to late!
Now were going to have to cut Medicare and Healthy Families off completely! This is going to leave several million kids with NO MEDICAL Insurance!
Now that's a solution! Emergency rooms will be filled to the brim and TAX PAYERS will have a burden MUCH more drastic than leaving these programs in place.
Hundreds of local teachers, police, firefighters will be laid off.
FIFTY EIGHT THOUSAND inmate are going to be released into our communities.
You REPUBLICANS say these are all sacre tactics. Not so, as CA is OUT of FUNDS in LESS that TWO WEEKS!
$233 per year for 4 years would have been a VERY small price to pay, in an attmept to save our schools!

Before you make any more grossly inaccurate generalizations about conservatives (of which our Governor Arnold is NOT ... he is NOT implementing conservative policies and programs...he is a liberal democrat through and through)...
I suggest you pick up a copy of Mark Levin's best selling book (which you'll not hear anything about on the Mainstream Media...called "Liberty and Tyranny". It will tell you who is "dividing" and tearing apart this Country and our Constitution brick-by-brick.

For many years he was a frequent contributor of legal opinions to The Rush Limbaugh Show, where Limbaugh referred to him on-air as "F. Lee Levin," a tongue-in-cheek reference to the famous defense attorney F. Lee Bailey. Peace; in case you hadn't noticed this state has been controlled by Democrats and the unions for many years. The governor, Republican or Democrat, does not approve spending. But you are correct that the state has been run into the ground. Your anger should be directed at the state legislature. Will you be voting against the incumbants in the next election? Probably not....you'll just vote the party line.

PEACE, I bet you voted against the governor's special propositions a few years ago, the ones that if passed, might have meant things would not be so bad today. But no, voters had to have their way and keep the party going...just add it all to the tab, and now the tab is due.
And yeah, blame it all on the governor...not the voters who overuled him, and voted in the legislators who made sure spending would keep on outstripping population growth and inflation by obscene amounts..as long as there's one republican somewhere, let's blame it all on him.
I cannot believe how economically (and historically) illiterate CA voters are when they make these claims. And who are you kidding? CA is an *extremely* liberal state, if you haven't noticed all the bumper stickers around here not to mention how the state has voted since about 1992. And how's that liberalism doing for us so far?
No, the only ones dividing the community are folks like yourself who believe in insulting and name calling anyone who dares to have different opinions than you do. That's facism, and it's alive and well in America in 2009.

Oh by the way Todd, since you are opposed to low taxes, can we assume that you pay extra taxes on April 15th, when you send in your property tax bill, or when you shop? Do you make sure to send in your sales tax to the state when you purchase something over the Internet? I didn't think so.

I have a great idea... how about we all appoint you as the representative of our community. That way you can VOTE for all of us; after all, your opinion is the only one that counts, and you appear to know what's best for everyone in the community. It doesn't seem like there's much left for the rest of us to do or say, you've got it all figured out for us. In fact, we can all just leave our brains at home every day and let you do all of our thinking for us too. Wow, what a relief it is to have someone like you to save us from ourselves.

I take exception to your comment that California is a "Very Liberal State." A more accurate comment would be that California is a State with many Liberal Voters. Overgeneralizing does nothing to support a well thought out argument, in fact it diminishes the validity of everything else you say.

I'd like to thank all the Republicans and Tea Bag Heads for ruining our schools. I'm hopeful that as Pleasanton's demographics continue change, the conservatives in this town will get scared and move off to some backwards town in the Central Valley where they can live out their GOP fantasies. They can elect Joe the Plumber as their king.

As "Enough" said, the election is over.
It's time to move forward.
Send in your check for $233 to PUSD today, along with your pledge to send in the same amount or more over the next three years.
Our schools are't ruined - changed yes, but not ruined and that's a terrible thing to say on these blogs, particularly when so many students read these comments.
If you think it's unfair that the Yes on G voters contributions are benefitting the No on G people and their kids, life's not fair.
Please try to put behind you all the anger, and model behavior that is a good example for our children.

Regarding your comments about those who say it's unfair fthat Yes on G voters contributions will benefit No on G voters; has anyone considered that there may be many NO on G voters who are willing to donate to the schools at their discretion, but didn't want to be forced to do so through a Parcel Tax? I'll gladly donate to the schools my chilren attend, voluntarily, and based on my financial ability to do so. I would imagine that many other NO on G voters will feel the same.
I also feel that there will be many YES on G voters who won't donate at all. Overgeneralizing gets us nowhere.

Would you really want to live in a society where everyone must think the same and act the same. I am a conservative and your brief 'history' lesson is correct. The only thing I would add is that the Depression was caused when Republicans steered away from their conservative ideals of limited government, less regulation, more promotion of free enterprise.
While I supported many of George W. Bush's policies, I was critical of him when he steered from conservative ideals of 'no bailouts' limited spending, tighter immigration, etc.
The main problem with our once beautiful State of California is that conservative ideals of limited government, low regulation, tighter immigration controls, etc. have not been carried out by our current RINO Governor Schwartzenkennedy, or previous liberal Governors.
So I can and do criticize Republicans when they veer from the conservative ideals that have made this country great.
By the way, when have you heard our current President ever hint that this country is great and that he is proud of the things it stands for? His silence on this subject speaks volumes to me and many others.

Also, Republicans at the time of the Great Depression had vastly different economic policies than they do now. They were advocates of "mercantilism" and the sort of economic policy like "free market" was more of a Classical Liberalism policy.

It was only in the late 70s with the rise of Neo-Conservatism (i.e., Reagan) that Republicans adopted the Classical Liberal economic policies of laissez faire.

Better take a good look at what is happening today in the european elections. The conservatives are sweeping to power and in a big way as the voters are sick of big government, big taxes, and bailouts. Look for this same thing to happen in California and the US if we are to survive.

Positivity is hard for some, I know. But others of us try, in the face of it all... for ourselves AND for our children. The naysayers (many of them here on this forum, it seems, try to make the rest think that they are in the wrong for hoping for a kinder, better, more peaceful world... that we are the sick, unpatriotic, naive ones, hell-bent on bringing this "great country" to its knees, damning it to socialism or worse (oh no, the "C" word...!) Grace, not sure who wrote those words for the messiah but his actions are anything but positive for the US and its people. Bought GM and Chrysler and now it is being contested in court as they way they did it was against the law, has turbo tax Tim in China begging for them to continue to buy our debt as they laugh at him, gives the green light to N. Korea and Iran in their nuclear aims by non action, critices Israel, in two years because of this idiot we will be borrowing 50 cents for every dollar we spend, demoralizes the CIA to the point he has to go to their offie to give them a pep talk, buys most of the major banks and forces the others to take the money so he can control them, most of his nominees are tax cheats including the guy in charge of the IRS, unemployment is approaching 10%, military retention is at a low (everyone opting out at a time of high unemployment), not meeting any recruitment quotas, wants to tax healthcare benefits, everyone hurting, and he decides he wants to have date night in New York so loads up all his secret service on 2 private jets and flies to the big apple for dinner and opera and then returns to DC that night at the same time he is critizing executives for taking private jets. Let's not forget our favorite California daughter brilliant Nancy (lies about the CIA) Pelosi who flies 2 jets back to Cali about each weekend at a cost of $300,000. Yep are group of real attached individuals fighting for us poor folk..............give me a break.
