Resident of SR: You have way too much time on your hand if you are reading a Pleasanton blog @ 7 am. Either that or you are an x governement worker w/ a great pension plan and was able to retire before 50ty! This pleasanton resident is off to her private sector job ....it won't be around for long.

The teachers should be taking 10% paycut across the board and offering to significantly reduce or eliminate their lavish benefits programs.

Anyone who voted NO on the state props yesterday but is planning to vote yes on G is not doing their research and instead falling for the emotional cry, "It's for the children...."

Others who oppose G see that the problems are much like those at the state level---unsustainable levels of spending! Let the federal money see us through this next year and then demand that PUSD take a hard line when the union contracts expire next year.

If you voted NO yesterday, you want to vote NO on G.

Sara, if we stop the raises to the district employees, that is a good start. The union has refused to allow a halt to their raises. These raises which are still planned will cost the district $15,000,000 in the next four years. The district did receive a reduction in revenue this year but instead of reducing anything, they just dipped into the reserves; they want it to look real bad here so voters will be scared into a parcel tax. Sounds like our board members and superintendent have been following the state's lead in crying doom and gloom to try and get a tax passed. Will see if Pleasanton voters fall for it.

I work in Fremont and for a union and our union is reopening our contract with the company in order to give concessions because our contract is bankrupting the company so contracts can be renegotiated in mid stream and seems to me if our teachers are true leaders they will ask their union to reopen negotiations. Of course, the PUSD must make the request to start to ball rolling.

By the way I just read on one of the other blogs that one of our school board members, Pat Kiernan, does not even live in Pleasanton but rather in Camino up by Tahoe but does have two daughter who work for the district so maybe that is why we cannot get in cost reduction. Our elected officials are in bed with the union.

I think the ball is finally rolling to crush the unions just like GM. We need 20% cuts in pay and benefits for public sector employees to make them comparable to the private sector and where it was before Gray Davis gave away the store. Cities, counties, states and the nation are all bankrupt unless we control this public sector union monster. It is now or never. Start with voting down G.

You all do not have your act together; you all stupidly voted in Measure C just to break even with P-Town's funding from years: and that demonstrates you all don't have your act together (try leading for once, Tools. Would you follow us off the cliff also?) Watch as we DO NOT vote in more money - let's see who demonstrates continued growth in API scores...(does -44 growth overall mean anything to you?). Oh, that's right, "SR" stands for selective reasoning.

Further examples of San Ramon's superior "critical thinking skills" is your City compensation packages for the fire department alone...It was stated on another thread that "Craig Bowen, (Your) Chief of the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District retired in December with a yearly pension of $284,000.00 plus full bebefits. His salary while he was on the job was about $221,000.00. Obviously a lot of people don't care about money or they vote like lemmings."
