Congrats to the Pleasanton Rage U18 Girls Soccer team! The team won their thrid State Cup Championship on Sunday defeating cross valley rival Mustang Mavericks 2-1. The Rage team has 10 Pleasanton girls, most of whom have played together since they were 10 years old. The victory on Sunday advances the team to their fourth Far West Regional Championships, June 15-21st in Lancaster California. In 2007 the team placed third at the US Youth Soccer National Championships.

I watched this game. The RAGERs were so good. They gave away a bad goal in the first half, to Mustang. Then the RAGE turned it up, and complete enveloped their opponent. The RAGE first goal was very lucky, but deserved, maybe should not have counted (goalkeeper had the ball in her hands, and a very smart soccer player, nodded it out of the keepers hands, into the goal). The second goal was a thing of beauty. A great cross, to a player whose diving header solidified the game. I am not sure if the Mustang team, made it over the halfline during the second half. The RAGE defense was awesome, squash every attack in the opponents half of the field. What a great display of the "beautiful game". This team is so enjoyable watch.
