Around Town, posted by Editor, Pleasanton Weekly Online, on Apr 27, 2009 at 1:49 pm

A mountain lion was spotted in a vacant lot in the Mohr-Martin neighborhood early this morning, making it the third sighting in recent weeks. The large cat was also spotted in the same area April 14 and Sunday.

My wife and I walked along that area Saturday morning. I do keep an eye out for "wildlife".

I'm suprised we haven't heard of any pets going missing.

The Lions have plenty of deer and rabbits. Over the years we have had malled pets in the Vineyard area.

why don't you people just stay out of the lion's territory if you're so damn concerned?

"Anonymous" has it wrong. The mountain lion is venturing into our territory.

Just got back from a walking our dog, and saw a tv type van (with the 40 foot antenna on the roof) at the end of Martin. Just sitting there with a couple of guys inside watching screens. Are they trying to get shot for the morning news? Must be a slow newsday.

OK, I was just kidding the last time when I said "lock and load", but now, really, the authorities need to lock and load.

But cars and that cat are the only thing keeping the squirrel population in check!

Everyone should call animal control and request to have the cat re-located before a child is hurt or animals start going missing. The school must be protected being that it is so exposed.

We all know the danger of the big cats. Such a shame that we live in their territorial hunting range. This is why a proper EIR should be done on any development in the big cat region.

Pretty soon, when we've either destroyed their habitat or killed them off. If this cat has a pride, then its an even bigger problem.

I bet the cat was planted by the No Stoneridge Extension folks!
