Wheels (school route) bus collision w/ tan SUV?
Around Town, posted by Grace, a resident of the Highland Oaks neighborhood, on Apr 20, 2009 at 9:41 pm

Saw the aftermath of this around 3:30 this afternoon on Muirwood, just north of W. Las Positas. Police car, two police motorcyles, Wheels bus at the curb with the front banner reading Fairlands, and a big tan SUV with the front driver side door torn forward. Must have been a fair number of kids coming home on the bus displaced, and from first (empirical evidence only) glance, it looked as if the SUV must have pulled out in front of the path of the bus?

Hopefully no one was hurt...

Oh, and the full-sized Wheels bus was later loaded onto a big trailer and taken away - whether the bus was damaged and disabled or being taken for further investigation, not sure.

Any passenger carrying bus is required to be inspected and certified safe before it's put back into passenger service after an incident like this. They aren't allowed to just 'drive away'.
