recent break ins

Original post made by TI, Stoneridge, on Apr 18, 2009

Just a heads up...
I received an e-mail from St. Elizabeth's Seton (on Stoneridge) that three cars had been broken into while parked at their parking lot.

The priest mentioned at the 10:00 mass at St. A's to be aware of leaving things in cars because of recent break-ins.

Joe,

Good thing you already have your 45. Osama and his band of left-wing loons want to stop the sale of guns so the crooks and the government will be the only one with guns. Gosh, that make's it quite a bit easier for a government crackdown on the people. Time for people to read about how Hitler came to power, because we best be concerned about whether ol' Prez Hussein Osama and Queen Pelosi have similar aspirations in mind. Then again, they may aspire to have it more like the Putin model. Its no wonder there is a shortage of heavy iron and ammunition now. People are starting to realize what a serious mistake they made in November.

It's time for the Pleasanton Police to emphasize cracking down on crime instead of having their main focus being motorcycle cops with radar guns. First it was getting mugged at Stoneridge, now its getting burgled while you're going to church.

We have had a rash of car break ins in the area of East Angela and First street as well. Lock all your doors and windows. These are desperate times for some people.

To Susan Sarandon: I feel for the real Susan Sarandon for you using her name.... Your ignorance is sad. Very, very sad. Mistake in November? Think again. Or don't.

yes, you are right the same "real" Susan Sarandon who protested for Hamas as they were blowing up small children. Another Hollywood loon.

@ "susan": any facts to back up your accusations? So your guy and girl didn't win the election last November. Get over it. We had 8 years of Bush/Cheney now it's time for Obama & Biden. You want to critisize, fine. But do it with facts, not with idiotic drivel and stupid nicknames.

@ Harry: Radar? I've lived in this town for 12 years and never seen a radar gun. Stop driving like a maniac and you'll probably stop seeing them too.

I was walking my dogs last night and saw a suspicious character loitering around my neighborhood. He started walking as soon as he saw me so I followed him until he left my neighborhood. Keep an eye out for suspicious people and be vigilant.

Yes I agree Brandon. I was working in my front garden and noticed a clean cut guy just a few houses away standing like he was waiting for someone. After an hour of him being in the same place and glancing over a lot I went in the house and locked my doors. About 20 minutes later I went out again to gather some things from the yard and to check to see if he was there, and sure enough he was closer and sitting on the sidewalk now. I left in my car and found a police car down the street and told him to check this guy out. Always report things out of the ordinary when you notice it. The cops don't mind and you just might stop a crime before it happens.

To AVHS dad:
I've been here 14+ years, and got nailed by a radar motorcycle on Bernal 2 years ago, going downhill where I picked up some speed. So rather than blame others for "driving like a maniac," consider yourself lucky. I've also seen radar bikes near the Fairgrounds and elsewhere around town. They are there - you must have a 'radar angel' on your shoulder that shoos them away from you!

The cars broken into around East Angela and 1st/2nd are probably kids looking for money and or things to fence to get money for drugs.

Pleasanton has a teen drug problem and people ignore it. If you sit and open your eyes you may see a drug deal transpire. I did, on Greenwood, next to Harvest Park School. Jack in the Box/Perry's Liquor, Vineyard Avenue, areas around the high schools and junior highs are very active. The Police are doing almost everything they can but resources are limited. Some radical ideas:

1. Get plain clothes cops that look like kids and have them infiltrate into the high schools.

2. Have cops ride bikes around town in plain clothes and ride in the parks. Amador Valley Park (Aqua Park the kids call it) is a well known hangout and drug den. They hang near the fenceline near the white apt.complex. Kids run when they see the cops.

3.Cops should use night goggles and patrol on bikes (bicycles).

4. Get police entrenched on Vineyard Avenues in the apt. complexes. Associates of Nortenos and Surrenos live there---spillover from Livermore somewhat I have been told by sources.

5. Get Kay Ayala out there working the beat.

The police are good in our town but will need to get better. I support them 100%. Elements of Stockton and Hayward and elsewhere are encroaching on our doorstep. I am not an elitist as I was raised working the farm orchards and farm fields of Oxnard, California. I saw this before-kids with money and cars given to them by their "too busy parents." Drugs followed because money was 'easy". Drive-bys are now common there and it all started with the kids.

Just a matter of time until one of our kids gets killed in a bad drug deal. And Pleasantonians will be so "shocked" and will be asking how could this "thing" happen in OUR town. It happened because parents and other residents did not look or know what they were looking at. Parents were not attentive, city services reacted too slowly. Teachers and administrators are well aware of how serious the drug problem has become.

If Mayor Hosterman's claim/offer is accurate, that the city could absorb a $1.2 million loan to the school district w/o affecting services then maybe she could "LOAN" some more money to our police department for MORE aggressive drug enforcement. Maybe build that Teen Center that Cindy keeps mentioning. Afterall, Pleasanton has a multimillion dollar Senior Center, a multi-million golf course and soon a multi-million Firehouse Arts Center, all mostly catering to adults. The teen center won't stop drugs but might be something the kids can call their own and center activities for those not "sports-minded or talented".

I have signed my name. I am not hiding behind a by-line. I won't be bothered by the rude individuals that use this forum to insult because someone has a different view. Afterall, Pleasanton no longer fits the "All that the name Implies" slogan. "All about Me" sounds better.

Did not vote for McCain and Palin as I voted for Obama and Biden and change but am getting more than I bargained for and would sit the election out if I had it to do over again as all of the candidates were terrible. By the way did you spell "critisize" sic correctly :O) or was that idiotic rhetoric?

@ Harry: Radar? I've lived in this town for 12 years and never seen a radar gun. Stop driving like a maniac and you'll probably stop seeing them too.

Read the papers as Jon Gruden was cited on Santa Rita by a radar motorcycle policeman so they are around.

Sounds like the only way you can express yourself is to call people names so have a fine day and I feel sorry for your kids AVHS dad

Scott Walsh is definitely correct about problems around the apartments behind Safeway and the Aquatic Center. I called the police several weeks ago after walking through the area past a half-dozen kids in their late teens openly commenting about drugs as I walked past. Too many parents are unaware of what their kids are doing and can't be bothered. I have heard of students being pulled from classes recently for drug use so it is being addressed by the police. Give them a hand and report suspicious activities.

If you don't think there is a drug problem in Pleasanton then just take a stroll around or through ValVista Park when the sun goes down and breathe deeply.
I don't think the cops can do much because there are too many escape routes there.

@Pierre Trudeau & MainStreet Diva: I didn't say that radar guns don't exist in Pleasanton. Only that I've never seen one. If Harry thinks that's all PPD does, then he must be driving like a maniac.

@Pierre Trudeau: I blame "critisize" on my failing eyesight. I'm wearing my glasses now. Also, my son would not want you to feel sorry for him. I think he's a fine young man he thinks I'm a fine old man. I know this because we talk about everything...girls, drugs, school, books, movies, trading cards, life, death, each other, whatever. Have a great day.

AVHS Dad,

In the future if you want to be taken seriously on these blogs and want to express an intelligent opinion I would suggest you not insult anyone who expresses an opinion that differs from yours. On the other hand it is possible you say these things just to stir it.

cops should be out there on motor patrol WITH radar guns so they can inspect suspicious vehicles and keep the criminals at bay!! AND at the same time WE as pleasanton residents should always lock our doors set our alarms AND otherwise, if necessary, protect what is ours to the best of our means. WE need to our first defence! COPS are spread thin and can only do so much. my car has been broken into 5 times. since being diligent about locking them we've had 0 break-ins!

How about this for at least a partial solution for the kids and drugs? Every time the cops find a kid in possession or selling the parents are required to wear a shirt that says "my unsupervised kid was caught doing drugs". After a few weeks of being identified as a useless parent who chooses not to discipline their kids at least the neighbors would know who to watch out for. Kids are not born bad, but bad parents allow them to grow up that way.

Better yet why not make the parents serve the time? I bet having to be off work in jail for a few weeks would change the way the raise their children.

Dear AVHS Dad,

Alright! My favorite sport is smoking out left-wing loons. Its kind of the same rush as detecting and irradicating tumors. Both are getting rid of a cancer.

Regarding the statistics - if you are not aware of these things you may want to get your head away from the left-wing-loon media that is running the "we have to outlaw guns" and do a reality check. Do your own research. Check out the crime statistics for places like Florida and Texas, versus places that have gun restrictions.

Now you can get back to reading your Daily Kos.

@ "Susan Surandon" or "Susan Sarandon" or whoever,
What are you talking about? Who is talking about outlawing guns besides you? Where and when has Obama said he wants to outlaw guns? Do you think all gun control is BAD? Do you WANT to hand out guns to felons? Do you want NO background checks? Is that outlawing guns? I may or may not choose to have a gun in my house, but I will absolutely defend the right of my law abiding neighbor to have a gun in his house. Now go back to calling your favorite right wing radio station to rant some more.

Oh yeah. What the heck is a "Daily Kos"???
