I am absolutely appauled that this woman in Southern California is receiving food stamps for her children. She had NO business having more children so we, the taxpayers, can help her feed them!! UNBELIEVABLE!! I know this is just a needle in the food stamp haystack. This is touching a nerve with me because I received notice from the IRS that they didn't receive a form for our 401K plan for our business and now we owe them $15,000. $15,000 is a lot of money for us!! I realize that food stamps come from a different agency than the IRS. I am all about paying my fair share of taxes but I don't want it to feed other people's kids!

I'll go a step further. I think the kids should be put up for adoption. She will have no time to care for them while she is finishing "a degree" and the first 6 are probably lacking in ideal attention. This is a horrendous afront to sensibilities and I can't wait to find out what doctor treated her.
We are paying for more than her Food Stamps, too. Her health care costs were astronomical just at the delivery with all the teams in place. How in the world did she pull this off when so many people are turned away who are deserving and diligent about their desires for assistance in making a family.

Biz owner, we have 6 children and are dependent on food stamps to put food on the table. My husband and I are eager to work but it' challenging to find jobs in this environment. We now decided to be stay at home parents since we're expecting our 7th child this coming October. The food stamp program keeps food on the table for us and we won't be able to afford the medical bills if not for MediCal. You should know that your tax dollars are not wasted because there are people like us who need to feed our family. As President Obama said, we need to "spread the wealth". I am glad you're paying your taxes so we can continue to feed our children.

Regarding Cholo, while he does make me laugh from time to time...it's a quandry why the PW staff doesn't give him the boot. He rarely if ever has anything intelligent to offer. Again, he can be humorous but most often he's verbally combative and offensive. (...I know...I'm next!)

Great idea! Let's take away someone's kids because of food stamps. Better yet, let's start dictating how many kids people can have. How about one child per family?
On a more serious note, let's direct anger at the root cause. What's more appalling is the enablers this woman is surrounded by. She's doing this while living with her parents? And her mom goes on record whining to the public about her daughter's behavior? Parents, wake up! Stop coddling the adult children!

Birth control can't be paid with food stamps and MediCal doesn't cover that eithre. Having our child is the best option fo us. Your taxes need to be paid regardless so it aint your problem how the govt spend their money. I aint asking you for more money to support me and my family. We love our kids and weer going to have at least 2 more

I will send the comments from "Obama Pride" to my senator, Washington. What nonsense! So this lady thinks we should all support her and her kids? If you can't afford kids, don't have them! This food stamp program should be for the truly needy, not those who deliberately have no work and more kids. Your kids should be taken away and given to people who can take care of them. And you should be taken off of welfare. What a nerve!
I supported Obama, but not the people who like you want to just ride without working and having kids they can't afford.

You people ARE very gullable. No wonder the solicitors often target Pleasanton. The person known as 'Obama Pride' is taking on a fake persona of a hypothetical person on welfare. I guess to show you that "some people are doing this"...I'm not sure what their real point is. Maybe they just like to get a rise out of you 'hard working tax payers'...
Don't believe everything that is written on anonymous local website. Some people just write things, to see ...how the community REALLY feels about a particular subject. Like free loading parents living off the government. I guess they made up the high number of children just to get an immediate response from you guys...Well Done.

Most of you should not be complaining, you should look to yourselves to blame. Anyone who voted for Obama or the Democrat(Socialist) party, voted for exactly this. If you voted for Obama, you DID vote to support people who are just looking for a free ride. And now with almost a TRILLION more in government spending coming down the pipeline, you're going to get even more of it.
WAKE UP; Obama is all about more government control. Taking money away from those he's able to deem as "evil" (the rich) and give to people who will then get hooked on the democrat party like it was heroin. That's why he is now trying to get the middle class hooked on his own brand of government heroin. Once you start supporting the party that gives away handouts you'll be at the feeding trough like Pavlov's dog.
Posted by Stacey, a resident of the Amberwood/Wood Meadows neighborhood, on Feb 11, 2009 at 9:13 am
And this is why I'm not a fan of political parties. Wake up? They're BOTH authoritarian. They BOTH create more government (remember Bush created a whole new department!). They BOTH take your money, whether it's for social welfare or for corporate welfare.

Stacey, I didnt' elaborate on my reasoning so for your consumption, it's not about the food stamps. I have a major issue with a delusional young woman who thinks she can be the "be-all" mother to a litter of children. Actually, I hold the doctor responsible. He should have his license taken away and properly sued - BY THE TAXPAYERS who'll be footing this psychotic/psychopathic woman's decisions.
Did you notice she also used some of the money that PJ discussed for those enormous lips that's she's still denying. Maybe to help her logic seem more smooth, pouty and acceptable. She's pathological, indeed and should not be parenting. Those children need more than she can provide, to thrive.
Posted by Huh, a resident of Livermore, on Feb 11, 2009 at 9:55 am
as far as your tax; if it's for your 5500 form, just call them. The office that handles this seems to be very reasonable. You may have to write an explanation letter or they can tell you other options. I came into a place where it hadn't been filed for a few years and in the end we didn't end up paying anything.
Posted by OOOHH NOOOOO, a resident of the Another Pleasanton neighborhood neighborhood, on Feb 11, 2009 at 10:01 am
THe doctor should be sued for malpractice - He should have known her mental history and declined to perform the service for her.
The doctor should be on the hook for helping to raise those children - without him it wouldn't have been possible!
Such a shame - The poor kids growing up in a tribe - I was one of 5 and I found THAT difficult -
I'm sure someone will offer her a TV show like "Jon & Kate plus 8" and she will no doubt be able to feed her kids.
Personally, if we as stupid Americans watch the program it will only encourage more of the same behavior.
WE NEED TO SHUT OFF THE T.V.'s and get outside and PLAY - ride bikes - street baseball - hockey - hoola hooping - hopscotching - einy--meiny - toots a tiny - a ba bungalini - achi, cochi, liverochi, out goes Y O U.
GET THEM OUT TO PLAY INSTEAD OF watching the BOOB TOOB !!!!

Hola marie, you're using words that suggest that you've received clinical training? Would you please clarify what you mean by delusional, psychotic, and pathological? It sounds more like a case of diagnostic anger to me? Name calling is not going to get you very far in this world.
Some of the babies may someday make wonderful contributions to our society. In the mean time, they need proper nourishment.

i think along with food stamps and any other service our government feeds out that people should be drug tested, we get drug tested to work, why shouldnt they be tested for the services our taxes help pay for.

Once again we miss the point. Why should all the freeloaders be rewarded for doing nothing to better society, while we hard working taxpayers are asked to pay more every year to cover the cost. How about an overhaul of the welfare system. We have tons of empty military bases. How about they have to live in a barracks, eat in the mess hall, get their clothes from goodwill and in order to receive these benefits, they have to attend school to learn a trade so they can learn to take care of themselves. They get to cut the grass, paint the buildings, wash the floors and windows and live like normal people. They don't get paid, but all their needs are met as long as they try to be productive members of society.
If they refuse to work and educate themselves, let them starve to death, they make the choice. The druggies and alcoholics on Market St. are all receiving SSI payments, but choose to spend it on their vices rather than on housing and food. We are better off without them. They have all made the choice to be leeches on society and don't deserve to be taken care of.
Some of you might think this is cruel, if so take of couple of them into your house and get them off of society's payroll. I doubt if ther will be many taken off the street.

Okay, how did the issue of this woman receiving food stamps somehow become Obama's fault. Last time I checked he was sworn in just a few weeks before she gave birth! LET ME BE CLEAR - I did NOT vote for Obama, nor do I support his views - however, I find it ridiculous that this woman's LACK OF RESPONSIBILITY AND MORAL VALUES somehow becomes the presidents fault.
It comes down to personal responsibility - if one cannot afford to feed another dependent, they should not have one. If someone cant afford birth control, they should not engage in sexual activity. ITS A CHOICE people. And unfortunately IRRESPONSIBILE people make BAD CHOICES, for which the rest of us have to pay for.
And in response to someone's comment that food welfare doesnt pay for birth control ~ there are an incredible amount of people on disability, welfare, WIC, & food stamps that smoke, drink alcohol, have their acrylic nails done, hair highlighted, & have a cell phone. So........you cannot tell me they cannot afford birth control. Weak excuse~!

You know you can get free - or nearly free birth control from Planned Parenthood. Even condoms if you are so against hormones and such.
With the woman who had the litter of 8 babies, what I want to know is when they are taking away that Dr's medical license. One would think that he would be worried about someone who already had 6 children at home. Shouldn't this be some sort of child abuse?
Posted by marie, a resident of the Del Prado neighborhood, on Feb 12, 2009 at 10:44 am
Cece, after hearing he developed a new technique to help inserted embryos take hold, it dawned on me...was he using her as his petre dish? I look forward to seeing where this leads with the doctor. Initially, he said he declined to participate in any implanted babies after the first 6...we'll soon find out the truth.

Cholo, my dear, a quick google will suffice for those not familiar with these words.
The fact that she has a distorted view of motherhood and her abilities to parent a litter, that she 'believes' it and wants to convince others of this...is *delusional*.
It is of *pathological* nature by the mere means that it is indicative of a mind which is diseased. Diseased to the degree of making statements or having thoughts that are "extreme, excessive, or markedly abnormal".
Regards the *Psyhcotic* determination, it is fairly easy to see that she has a "fundamental derangement of the mind, characterized by defective or lost contact with reality".......within her behavior.
If you were to watch her interviews, you might see how determinedly calm she remains while answering the questions "her way" with "her reasoning", in a desperate attempt to express how normal her decisions have been. With a number of questions she didn't even answer the question, rather answered a different interpretation of the question, that better suited her mission. She is believing her story and selling it to us, to the extent that she has lost contact with the reality of her choices and the future problems she's created. (Regards her plastic surgery, she flat out lied, though it doesn't take a trained plastic surgeon to see the huge difference from a few years ago, to now. Within this lie, she is convincing herself as much as us.)
Yes, I have training in psychology but don't like to use it except in a client/counselor setting, as it is inappropriate and often uncomfortable for others.
On this forum, I'd prefer to express myself in uncontained outbursts!
Posted by Cholo, a resident of Livermore, on Feb 13, 2009 at 3:37 pm
miss marie...are you a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Psychiatrist, DMH, L.C.S.W. or M.F.T. in the State of California?
Or, are you a paraprofessional "counselor"?
It appears from your comments that you understand little if nothing about psychiatric diagnosis.
Sorry, your little essay doesn't fly. Rely on Google and it will get you nowhere! Study in an accredited psychology or clinical social work program and you will receive the academic training/clinical practice & supervision that you need and seem to desire.
Until, please refrain from the name calling that so enjoy.
Posted by marie, a resident of the Del Prado neighborhood, on Feb 14, 2009 at 11:01 am
:D Regarding vigorous discussions, which I enjoy, and name calling, which I don't (don't enjoy, that is) I will refrain in regards to you. Your history speaks for itself. Your untoward style is unproductive.
If you knew much about psychology, and if you cared even a bit about dialogue, you'd refrain from your aggressive instigating of just about everyone and every topic. You clearly have a strong mind, an intellectual mind, even, just unfortunately misdirected. :}
Just imagine if you were to use your mind by sharing insightful, positive comments *in addition* to those that are less so. We all share our opinions, show the emotion, persuade with pragmatic stances or wreckless abandon, but in the end it seems that most ppl here reflect with both subjective and objective minds and consider what is being said.

Oh, regarding psychiatric diagnosis or psychological evaluation, it has been widely felt by the appropriate professionals that the mother of these babies is exactly as I've commented.
A more important observation is this. Regardless of how this happened or why she did this, the fact remains that there are 6 children (3 with handicaps) and 8 premies (up to 3 more handicaps, based on stats) that need nurturing, food and safety. What's done is done and now it is time for me to stop bashing the mother and hope the best for her children.
Another observation is that regardless of us making a specified donation to her, our taxes are already paying for her and their support and will continue to do so throughout the next 20 years (maybe longer depending on how productive they do or don't become in society.)

marie...you're experiencing growing pains. You muffed it and you're trying to safe face. You have a right to couch your hostility by using language that is potentially harmful to another person and to yourself.
Speculating about an individual's mental status is just that, speculation. To come up with a diagnostic impression is one thing. To understand people and multi-axial diagnosis requires formal training/experience in various academic and clinical settings. Otherwise, it's best to keep your mouth shut if you don't know what you're talking about.
As for TV sound bites by "appropriate professionals", who cares?
Posted by marie, a resident of the Del Prado neighborhood, on Feb 14, 2009 at 6:40 pm
Dont' need to save face as I stand by anything and everything I've said.
Besides the deranged chatter, I'd suggest you start interacting with real people and not the television you refer to. Get involved in life and people and the invigoration of pleasantness. You do worry me. If ones mouth needs to be shut - I'd suppose it is yours although if it is a form of therapy for you, then have at it, for it is far more important that you get the illness out.
Ahh, I love growing pains. I so enjoy listening to many perspectives and grow/expand my mind through discussion and debate. I encourage you to open your mind, lose some of your hostility and imagine a world where you don't feel the need for such senseless (and frankly, garbled) diatribes.
Well, my dear Cholo, I've allowed you to distract me long enough. On to more important things.

Have you heard that the doc says he did not do the procedure? He claimed, in one interview (off camera) that he refused to go forward and that another doctor took over. I can't wait to watch this unfold. The discussions on medical ethics are flying and they remind me of political ethics. Funny how similar they are beginning to appear.

She's in the news again today but I've not had a chance to hear it. Just watch, she'll get the newsworthiness to continue to creep into the limelight and eventually get her own show. That's all we need, a reality program about the delights of raising 14 children on welfare. Ought to be a winner!

Yo.... marie! From Fox News NY..
LOS ANGELES - The doctor who helped Nadya Suleman get pregnant with octuplets has reportedly transferred at least seven embryos to another patient.
According to the Los Angeles Times , a woman in her late 40s went to Dr. Michael Kamrava hoping to become pregnant with one baby.
The Times now says she is 5-months pregnant with quadruplets and hospitalized. The paper adds that the woman has no insurance so she was transferred to a county hospital where she will stay until the births which might not be for two or three months.
The new case has fueled the controversy over the ethical standards of Kamrava's practice and whether the fertility industry needs more regulation, according to the Times.

I find this whole story appalling as well. No, I don't think the choice to procreate should be attached somehow to financial status. But much has been said, in light of the current economic situation, of "living within your means". Why should having children be any different? If I don't have the money for a jaguar, I do without it. If you can't even provide for one child, you need to learn to live without more! I understand that the biological need and also emotional desire to procreate can be strong, and I don't generally fault anyone for choosing to have *a* child. But, once you have that one child and you need to rely heavily on taxpayers to raise him/her, then you need to take responsibility and avoid having MORE. Here we have a person who couldn't provide on her own for SIX kids and then went ahead and wanted more. Of course people are angry about that and I agree with Mary - if she's relying on taxpayers, then it's also every taxpayer's business! I feel that it is extremely selfish to continue bearing children that you truly cannot afford. I would have loved to have more children but a) I felt I could only afford two; b) Personally, I think globally that it's enough to simply replace myself and my husband. I'd also enjoy a 3000 square foot house or a second vacation home, but I accept that I cannot afford those things.
