I signed up with E-connections when I enrolled my children in Pleasanton schools and receive updates regularly. I always receive critical information from Pleasanton Unified School District in a timely manner. You may want to contact the district office to sign up or to verify that your contact information is current.

When our son wrestled, several came down with staph infections at AVHS - 4 or 5 years ago. One was hospitalized. I remember the wrestling team hearing about it but not AVHS from mail or e-mail. This is the first I heard of this outbreak. Our daughter is also in Varsity sports.
At least the elementary & middle schools tell parents about potential health risks.

at the end of 2008 my friend's 16 year old spent EIGHT weeks in the ICU at UCSF and Stanford for MRSA - nearly died several times during that period multiple fevers daily of 104-105 degrees- could not get the infections under control...this is serious stuff- after repeated antibiotic therapies, and finally having open heart surgery to remove the infection from her valves, she miraculously recovered and was able to be at home for Christmas....she continues IV antibiotics for months----it affected at lot of other organs, including her eyes and liver...she started out feeling like she had the flu -then within 48 hours became unable to move her limbs....not to scare folks, but honestly, this is very real
