Hayashi legislation prompts court ruling for prenatal care

The San Francisco Superior Court has struck down a state law requiring that low-income working women must have resided in California for at least six months before they can be eligible to receive prenatal and other medical care services through California's Access for Infants and Mothers (AIM) insurance program, according to an industry publication, Medical News Today.

BRAVO! As progressive as we sometimes think we are, it takes a court to remove 19th century legislation. This decision not only benefits mothers and thier unborn children, but is a major benefit in the fight to eliminate a permanent underclass in our society. Imagine, healthy mothers and children, regardless of income and location circumstances! How inlightened! We might yet figure out how to effect universal health care; one step at a time.
