Blackhawk Plaza -- 25 years later

Original post made on Jul 29, 2013

Nearly 25 years ago, rumors of gold-plated grocery carts began spreading through the Tri-Valley as Blackhawk Plaza welcomed its first customers to its tiled mall with soaring ceilings and domes leading to open-air walkways overlooking koi ponds, waterfalls and fountains at the upscale shopping center six miles east of Interstate 680.

The good news is that it's away from public transportation and has great security so *you-know-who* isn't likely to show up there. In fact, I don't think I've ever read about a big shoplifting incident here.

For comparison purposes, both Danville and Pleasanton are ranked low, as is the 680 corridor:

I live in Pleasanton, but go to the Blackhawk Plaza to Tribez Salon to get mine and my daughter's hair done and then we usually have dinner at the Mexican restaurant (I want to say the "Pear" something) where we eat right next to the water with all the ducks. Tribez is by far the best salon around and it's worth it for me to drive all the way over from Pleasanton because our stylist, Alyssa, is that good. We don't do much other shopping there, but we definitely enjoy our girl's visits with hair and then dinner in a really beautiful atmosphere.
