Voodoo Kitchen closed?

Original post made by Sam, Another Pleasanton neighborhood, on Jul 2, 2013

Looks like a new place, The Cove, is going in. This is at Valley/Bernal, across from Safeway. I liked Voodoo Kitchen and I'm sorry to see them go. Guess I should have gone there more often.

Hopefully a bank or Day Spa goes in to the space. If it has to be a restaurant, then we really need an Italian or Sushi place. We just don't seem to have enough Italian restaurants in town.

I only want a spa to go in if they put more poster. Oars signs in their open trunks as sign holders and make sure they are not just in English. You know, that way we are sure to attract the upstanding type that look for trunk signs well after business hours.

I went there, saw the menu and the atmosphere, and left. Creole food? no thank you.

No interest.

Too bad Habit Burgers does not go in there, because their space is too crowded I stopped going.

Same owner, just a different look to the restaurant plus a few more items on the menu. I'll definitely try it!

Pleasantonian is a registered user.

Did the new restaurant by Raley's already close? I go to Raley's almost every day and never once saw any diners in the place. As far as I know they never advertised their new business. I went in one day to see if they had a take out menu and stood at the counter for about 2-3 minutes and no one ever came out into the front from the back so I left.

Oh, how I wish a Chipotle would go in there. The Baja Fresh across the street is really poor. I have to drive to Dublin or San Ramon to get my Chipotle fix.
Also, was sad to see Rings close in that location. They had great burgers, dogs, fries and onion rings.
BTW, who are the jokers on the planning commission that allowed the shopping center across the street to be built with so little parking? When Safeway says jump, does Pleasanton ask how high?

Unfortunately, if it is the same owner, I don't think I will be going. The food was awful as was the service the two times I tried it. Unless they are bringing in an actual cook or chef who knows cajun/creole cooking, I give them a year, tops. I never cared about the atmosphere, I am all about the food and this was just terrible - a remodel is just going to mean they are throwing good money after bad unless they step up their cooking skills.

A shame, too, as East Bay could use a good Cajun joint on a par with Brenda's in the city (fried catfish Benedict or crawfish beignets FTW!) or Angeline's in Berkeley. This place never came close...

Once Starbucks closed it seemed to dry up over in that section ~ There needs to be something other than food to draw people from the downtown area or from across the street.

*****A Bakery with Designer cakes and Cup Cakes could do the trick ~ I would order from them for special occasions and holidays! Halloween Parties, Thanksgiving Centerpiece, Christmas parties.... Many many occasions and clubs could use this service.

Hey Chipotle Bob, move to Dublin so we can stop hearing you whine about that sad pathetic food you love so much.
