Editor -- Does anyone actually proof read your articles? This man was not convicted of a drug crime when he was nine years old! The conviction happened nine years AGO. Geez . . . .

And for the record, if Lowe's has a policy of zero tolerance for past convictions I say good for them. More companies need to stand up for ethics like that.

Adjectives modify or affect the meaning of nouns and pronouns and tell us which, whose, what kind, and how many about the nouns or pronouns they modify. They come before the noun or pronoun they modify except for the predicate adjective which comes after a linking verb and modifies the subject.

In this case 9-year-old modifies misdemeanor drug conviction.

For the record, if that wasn't a joke, and if your elementary school had grammar classes, I hope they failed you.

Has anyone shopped at this store? This store is full of diversity... I have shopped at this store since it opened and love it, while shopping there I can't help but notice the cultural mix they have. To take it a step further the store manager is Latin, so where is the discrimination??? Sounds like someone is reaching...

While i think that nearly everyone deserves a second chance, I don't see how the blanket policy is unfair to blacks and hispanics. How can they be disproportionately represented in the criminal justice system when they have committed the crime? are we supposed to have a quota system for criminals?

If Blacks and Latinos would stop committing a disproportionate amount of the crimes then maybe this argument will be invalid. Are they saying that Whites commit all these crimes but somehow escape prosecution? It's not Lowe's fault that there are too many Blacks and Latinos committing crimes! Attacking Lowes does not solve that problem!

This sort of thing used to be funny...you know, when the lady that spills the "hot coffee" that she bought on herself... and then sues McDonalds and makes a fortune. I don't mind when an occasional frivolous lawsuit slips through, but it's gone too far when someone brings up the race card when it is totally irrevelant. Its sad that anyone who reads the article, knows this is a waste of taxpayers money, and yet, it will still go through the court system. Its not up to Lowes to investigate his drug charge. If he is as innocent as he claims, then why hasn't his record been cleared? He could have rolled on his uncle and walked away free and clear. Are you telling me that the police had no interest in the man that paid for the drugs and will probably re-sell them...when investigators heard Mr. Magees' story, they had no interest in the dealer...they went after the "developmentally disabled" half-witt who "unknowingly" transported the drugs. Sounds like the uncle got off pretty easy. Mr Magee had nine years to work on that BS story, and THATS the best he could come up with. Like my Grandpa used to say, "if it don't make sense, then someones lying." The details aren't important now anyways. He had his day in court nine years ago and he was found guilty. A better question is if Lowes can sue him (or his scumbag lawyer)? There has to be a law to prevent someone from making false accusations, and filing a bogus lawsuit. No wonder the justice system is SO bogged down...

resident-- the conviction is nine years old, not the man. Please don't be concerned with others until you, yourself can get things straight. Well written article, unfortunately some readers are the ones with the issues.
