Kathy Narum for City Council

Original post made on Apr 12, 2013

In endorsing candidates for the Pleasanton City Council, we have most often supported those with a strong record of commitment to public service. We are doing so again by recommending Kathy Narum for election to the council on May 7. She would fill the seat vacated when Jerry Thorne was elected mayor last Nov. 6. She is a seasoned, experienced hands-on candidate who would hit the council dais running, giving the support needed by a council that for too long has faced court-mandated housing orders, land use decisions and challenging fiscal policies with just four members. Narum would bring her five years on the city Planning Commission, another five on the Parks and Recreation Commission, and much more service with city and civic organizations to a council that needs her experience.

Pleasanton voters, please note that Narum was taking money developers who she has direct influence on, and who wants to build high density housing in plesanton, and Narum's campaign was funded by those developers. That is a conflict of interest, I will vote for anyone but Narum

The good ol' boys have anointed their next rubber stamp. No independent thinking required.

Narum is funded by developers. If you want to live in LA, move there. If you want to maintain the small city character of Pleasanton, vote for someone else. Vote for someone who will represent you, not someone who will represent developers or unions. Narum is funded and endorsed by the folks who bring you high-density housing without building schools or infrastructure to support the population. Sanwong is endorsed by the unions. We need a council that will stand up to developers, unions and outside interests who want to dictate our city policies.

Kathy is supported by Pleasanton residents. Slow growth advocates. Former mayors. Business owners. Lots of different people. All local.

Pleasanton weekly supports Narum? Well she's not getting my vote, remember PW also recommended Hosterman who cared more about national politics and positioning herself for further political aspirations than running our city government. Also remember who that the ol curmudgeon Pete Stark backed, Hosterman. I'll watch the meeting and decide on the remaining candidates. Thanks PW for eliminating one of the choices for me.
