Having grown up in Montara I can assure you, these tunnels benefit many. Besides the local residences needing to get to their jobs, many in SF, you have businesses in the area that need employees/deliveries to get in. Additionally, there was a few times I remember when Hwy 1 (Devils Slide)and an accident closed Hwy 92. We were unable to get out for 3 days because of storm related landslides at both "the slide" and Hwy 92. It is not that easy when working in SF to go all the way around to Hwy 84, because everyone is doing it and the roads are only one lane in each direction, so you area at a snails pace. Now days there is more tele-commuting, but not when I lived there. Also the ecomony in the area relies on tourist coming in and many come in from the north not the east. Have you tried driving over to HMB around the pumpkin festival time? Or in the summer when everyone is headong to the beach? Try imaging everyone on Hwy 92.

Silly Nancy! Who cares if it's vital to the residents who use it? Don't you see? It doesn't serve the needs of The Tim! If The Tim doesn't use it, then it deserves the the scorn he so rightfully pours on it!
