Livermore Airport's Tower Will Not Shut Down

Original post made by Mr Cranky, Kottinger Ranch, on Mar 22, 2013

Livermore's airport control tower is not on the list of 149 control towers to be closed. In fact, Concord's tower and Napa's tower were also on the original list, but aren't on the final list.

So, all you pilots who fly into LVK can continue to look forward to even crankier controls. You people who bought houses underneath the traffic patterns can feel a bit safer that those maniacs up there aren't going to come crashing down on your heads - at least not due to lack of positive control.

I thought the whole world's economy was supposed to crumble? It doesn't sound like that's happening. In fact, stocks are flying high. That leads me to conclude that reducing government spending even more, including military spending, might actually be a good thing. MORE CUTS!

Military spending should be controled, just like any other house hold or company, to be sure there is no one miss using materials and/or money with in it's control. BUT our military needs to take care of its personel and honor its commitments to provide health care for its employee's and those who were injured in the line of duty. This is not happining due to the curant BS that is going on from the top down. Demand that our greatest asset, the soldier, is taken care of before all else. After all they have done to provided safty for all of us, now we need to provide for them.

This sort of thing happens every time government is forced to reduce their spending, whether it is federal or state level. Rather than cut the things that sorely need to be cut, they instead cut things that will induce the most pain to taxpayers. The Obama Administration has gone to great lengths this time to punish the taxpayers, seemingly because he thinks they will take out their wrath on the Republicans in Congress. What is so cynical about that is that Sequestration was Obama's idea - it was a misguided ploy that backfired on him. What is so ludicrous about the whole thing is that the Democrats are making it sound like Sequestration is going to devastate the country. The reality is the Federal government needs to cut spending by 20 TIMES that amount just to balance the budget. If Obama wants to same some FAA money, he needs to curtail the number of flights he takes to "campaign" and his monthly vacations; and to clip the flying wings of Congress.

It's only a few million kids whose parents will get reduced food stamps. No big deal. Having a balanced budget is so much more important than kids going to bed hungry.

Well, what bothers me about this is that I have not heard what cuts/furloughs/paycuts our Congress taking to help this economy.

And any job that is an "appointed" job will not be affected. Which means all 140 secretaries/staff that Michelle Obama has on her staff will be sitting pretty because these (which are friends or family) are appointed. Yep, Michelle Obama has 10 times more secretaries/staff then any other First Lady has ever had. And guess what folks, we pay for all of them. It is our tax money. So think of that while you are being furloughed.
