If you look at all the talented, smart people we have in this country, how is it possible that we have Reid,McConnell and Boehner leading our congress???I strongly consider all 3 to be mediocre people with no exceptional qualities or talents. How the hell are we stuck with such low level talent in a nation like ours?

Their stupid. True Americans want libertarian and fiscal conservatives that don't mollycuddle the sponge groups and races, but now they vote to. Time to put in some smart people, but Democrat party don't have any.

Fiscal cliff? Utter ridiculousness taking place in DC right now. No one will admit that raising taxes on the rich (no matter how you define rich) will pay for current spending, much less future baseline increases & interest, we will still have huge deficits, so it's a debate that no matter who wins, Americans lose.
DC politicians are completely out of touch. But the American voters essentially approved the status quo in November, so does that say more about them or us?

Fiscal cliff, our reps in WDC and the future. Nothing will change. Our system is flawed. Pelosi, Reid and Boehner make decisions affecting the entire nation, but they are elected by a small group of people (their constituency). Pelosi won 85% of the votes in her SFO district. Reid was reelected by LAV unions and Boehner - I honestly don't know. The point I am making is that each rep. is protecting :
1. Their chance for reelection
2. Bringing pork for their district
3. Trading votes with other reps to achieve the above
A total mayhem. These people are constitutionally incapable making any honest, decisions.
The solution is TERM LIMITS and MANDATORY RETIREMENT at the age of 65.

Thank you, Klisvak, for explaining how representatives are elected and reelected over and over again by their constituents.
Your answer is simple enough to understand even by posters who do not know the difference between "their" and "there." I guess only "True Americans" have that problem.
Even so-called fiscally conservative Republicans bring back plenty of pork to their (correct usage) districts while promising to cut everyone else from dipping into Federal coffers. Hypocrisy runs rampant in Congress and among voters who reelect Porky Pig over again.
