The release of Mitt Romney’s 2011 tax returns shows that he freely gave away more than $4 million to charity last year (about 30 percent of his income). In comparison, when Joe Biden was first running for vice president, his tax returns showed that he had given away just $3,690 to charity over the previous ten years (about 0.2 percent of his income). In other words, Romney gave away a thousand times as much to charity in one year as Biden gave in a decade.

Thanks for sharing, George. And I do believe you. Really. And I'm sure Romney would have given even more except for all the money he had sheltered in Cayman Islands, Swiss bank accounts, and more. It makes one like me, one of those 'stained' ones, wonder why he didn't pay the taxpayer financed 450K for his wifee's Olympic show horse. But hey what do I know? All I know is that he's running a superb campaign. Shows excellent leadership potential. You've picked a winnere there, George. You really have. Shows excellent judgment on your part. So, are you still picking the Minnesota Twins to win the world series this year?

"Looks like Romney gave approx. 30 percent of his income to charity last year vs. Biden giving (0.2 percent)."
And therefore what?
To put things in a bit more perspective, note that Romney has a net worth of over 200 million dollars, so reporting his charitable giving as a percentage of his income is really not a fair comparison to others. Virtually no one in the middle class, upper middle class, or even moderately wealthy can afford to give away 30% of their income to charity.

Today's piece of Romney wisdom: If you get sucked out of an airplane's open window, just go to the nearest Emergency Room.
Since that 30% (alleged) went to the Mormons, that means ol' Mitt donated most of his 'charitable contributions' to fighting against gay rights and women's rights. Thanks, Mitt, for your stellar contributions. You're a real man of the people! Or like he says: 'I don't care about 47% of the American public, and the other 52% can take a flying leap for all the heck I care! I just want to be president.'

Every year of his adult life Mitt has donated 30% to assorted CHARITIES, such as the OLYMPICS...every year, and so much more. His tithing to his church is a separate 10%. Born in the MIDwest, in the 1940's, being a Mormon, a father in important positions, he was taught to be private, humble, never brag, etc. I was born just a few hundred miles from him in the 40s, and that's what we were taught. What a better country we would have, if everybody had that upbringing ingrained in them.
I'm sick of the mockers, who have nobody and nothing constructive to offer about saving our country, our economy or the MidEast.
Anybody who heard the context, would know the campaign discussion, was about getting VOTES, VOTES. In talking about different constituencies, Mitt said we won't focus on the ones we can't get (forget about them.....votes), and focus on that tiny independent group...Of course flamethrowers, would rather shoot from the lip and trash with lies, to DIVERT from talking about jobs, economy, or the 9-11 TERRORIST attack on our American Embassy, which Obama chose to ignore and deny, and rely on his 'HOPE" that it wouldn't develop into more...jetted off to his Las Vegas campaign, since campaigning to the ignorant and adoring fans. IF anything more developed then at least in got in Vegas. He denied it was a PRE-planned 9-11 terrorist attack for 10 days, got that important campaigning done, now he calls the attack and deaths a "BUMP IN THE ROAD" ! REALLY ?????

Today's piece of Romney wisdom: Always vote for a presidential candidate when they refuse to give you specifics regarding their tax plans for the country.
Since the Mittster grew up in Michigan, you'd think all that engrained midwestern upbringing would produce something less than a 12 point Obama lead over the Mitt (per Rasmussen). Heck, by the time this is over, even the chucklehead retards from Indiana will probably go over into the Dem column.
Of course this business about the Mittster giving 30% to charity is a big lie. You'd have to see his tax returns to establish that, and we haven't yet seen a single tax return statement in its entirety. I guess that propensity to lie on George's part is something that was also engrained in his upbringing? Who knows? A liar is a liar. Or ... since it's almost impossible to take George seriously, perhaps, just perhaps, the liar is, in fact, the incomparable Casanova Frankenstein!

I am certain it is only modesty that prevents Casanova Frankenstein from revealing himself to his loyal minions.
In the meantime, two people on my block who had Romney signs on their front lawns have taken them down. When your most devoted followers are too embarrassed to keep their signs visible, you know things aren't going very well. Nevertheless, I'm confident the Confederate South will remain loyal to the cause, as will oil men in Texas, cow pokes all the way up to Wyoming, and the Mormons in Utah. A real following to be proud of.

Shawntae, my aren't you the atypical leftist religious bigot. It's none of your damn business who a taxpayer donates his income to. I'm sure you give your 30% to NAMBLA, AIDS or LGBT causes, but if you want to keep it in the closet, it's your right to do so. I'm sure you make lots of other contributions of your time and effort in additon to the money you generously contribute.
Just admit you hate Mormon's and be done with it. Your obvious hatred for anyone who is not obama is racist and narrow minded. Something tells me you have a secret crush on Mitt and he turned you down, hence all your hostility towards the man. You are one sick puppy....
Posted by Shawntae, a resident of the Valley Trails neighborhood, on Sep 25, 2012 at 3:03 pm
Sorry, but as a voter I think it very much is my business to know what kinds of causes someone like the Mittster, who wants to be president so badly, ostensibly gives to. Now, George, having been exposed as the chronic liar you are, you've decided to adopt the original name Shawneekwa. Nothing racist with that, I'm sure.
I do not hate Mormons. I do not respect them. I do not hate you as racist and liar that you are. I do not respect you. But all this is mute, I think, because I think anyone as ignorant and dumb as yourself cannot be a real person. Hence: Casanova Frankenstein is obviously George/Shawneekwa. For no one except a prankster could be so dumb as you are pretending to be; and since editors delete anything and everything associated with Casanova, he/you have decided to play things out for a while. Highly amusing!

This is great... listening to all you guys arguing over Democrat or Republican... heck I don't care who is in power... You play the hand you're dealt... kept my nose to the grind stone and made a few $... and now taking advantage of Democrat's inability to understand economics and using "sugar rush" stimuli to juice the markets, now making a "killing" in the stock market, while all you guys are looking for a job, collecting 0% on your savings, taking pay cuts, paying $4+ for gas, swallowing 50% college tuition increases, health care insurance premiums going through the roof, how’s that grocery bill lately? Jerry Brown asking for more money… Union teachers making $76K a year working 9 mos striking for more money and no evaluations … I love watching this stuff! … it’s hilarious and sad what these Pols can get away with…
... my family is set, but your kids will have to pay the Bill! ... then they figure out that this Keynesian stuff doesn't work ( how many times do you have to try it?) and we get back to a real American Capitalistic economy... I will simply put my $ back to work building wealth and leverage my dollars in building businesses and acquiring Real Estate ...
I loved the 80's-90's - good times ... got to witness each recovery from too much Govt ... Carter was a great wake-up call! 20% interest rates, gas lines, 8% unemployment, commodity prices going through the roof, BIG govt new Dept of Education! ... Reagan was fun watching him show everyone how Capitalism works and kick the Communist butts without breaking a sweat, not to mention the Air Traffic Controllers Union!... was even more fun watching the Republicans come in 1994 after 40 years of Democratic Congresses (it only took two years of Bill & HillaryCare to realize what was going on!) and show Clinton how to balance a budget! Wow that was fun!! … riding that Technology wave that Real American Capitalism generates... Life is Good!!
I just Hope America is able to withstand this latest assault on the American Ideal and we again become the World Power and Capitalistic model that everyone respects... We should never apologize for our Success!!
We've been able to avert disaster in the past… we stopped O in his tracks with 2010 election, not quite as timely as 1994 as the Democrats were able to “Buy” ObamaCare … hopefully we have enough folks left who know what Real American Ideals are and can pull 2012 off ... Enjoy the ride... Vote! … Gotta love it!!!

'shawntae', what's wrong with the name 'Shawneekwa'? In your broken English and bad grammar, I was able to determine that you say you don't hate Mormon's, but the rest of your rant proves otherwise. Is it because there are so few Mormon's like you or would they not let you into their church for some reason, like your obvious anger issues?
Your bigotry discredits all of the good work done with the donations this church receives....many times helping people like you.
P.S.--I think you insulted George, comparing him to Casanova. Not nice...

dear 'this is great...'
if our current status wasnt so fragile, i would chuckle more.
i have a 10th grader who will have a tougher time achieving the american dream, thanks to the loathsome democrats who despise life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness (ie private property and the right for us to keep a majority of what we earn with our labor)

The Romney yard signs probably came down at the hands of ignorant lowlifes in today's electorate. There isn't a lot of hope for the future of America, with the dumbing down of the electorate.
I don't know who started the idea that voters need to vote for candidates they want to sleep with, or even like. Pres Truman was a tough, unlikeable character, who did his job. I've always wanted a president who can 'lead' and govern'. Last time we couldn't find any reporters would ever ask any tough questions, or even relevant questions. We were told it was better to swoon, or get chill down your leg, and to vote for somebody who never did anything wrong, had blank records, because they had never 'done anything'! Apparently, avoiding failure by having done nothing, is more valued than getting experience by 'doing' and taking risks.
I am truly puzzled by the lack of presidential standards.
At the moment the mideast is about to blow up, but this president is in full campaign mode, avoiding and denying mideast complications...just hoping he can just slide thru to Nov.
His first love is the roar of adoring campaign crowds...so much more fun than the very diffifcult tasks of 'being' president.
We have world leaders in New York this week, who have asked for a few minutes with Obama...his answer is "I'm too busy!!".
Really, in the last few days, Obama found time to be on Letterman, beon the show of "Pimp with a Limp", today Barack & Michelle were on the view, making small talk with Whoopie, always time for the ignorant and partisan, but not time for world leaders. He still can't say the words that an American Ambassador with 3 other Americans were murdered by terrorists in a pre-planned attack on the anniversay of 9-11. Hours later, flew off to LasVegas for a fun fundraiser, after saying the attack was about a video...buying time...every day sticking to campaigning matters....just put presidentail duties on hold. Just hang a 'Closed' sign on America...no business today. ..campaign first, at the expense of the country he swore to defend.
Presidents are suppose to have an 'advantage' because we can witness them handling tasks, but a president is needed NOW. He just flew in the NY to make his speech and left the leaders of the world behind with festering problems.....to get back to campaigning.

(Un)informed said; "Anybody who heard the context, would know the campaign discussion, was about getting VOTES, VOTES. Nice bit of fact-twisting there. Unfortunately for your argument, the whole transcript of what Mitt Romney said is all out there for anyone to see and study. here it is:
Quote by Mitt Romney:
"There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it -- that that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what. ... These are people who pay no income tax. ... My job is not to worry about those people. I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."
No need for me to comment further on it. The quotation speaks for itself.

My! Lots of sour grapes out there. Their guy is losing because the electorate is stupid. Yeah, wouldn't it be nice to NOT have a democracy? Well, isn't that what the Romulans are trying to do by suppressing the vote?
Years of steady, sustained growth. A vastly improved health care system. A president who has kept us out of new wars for oil, has ended one major war and is about to end another -- both created by the numbskull Republican before him. And their guy is losing? Go figure! Couldn't be because this new guy, Mitt the dumbest twit this side of Rick Perry or Michelle Bachmann or Rick Santorum or Sarah Palin or Herb Cain or Paul Ryan or Donald Trump or Chris Christie (oh, how I wish he would have entered the primaries!), has failed to distinguish his policies from those of twits who were in power from 2000-2008? Right, it's the dumb electorate! Has nothing to do with a Party of the Rich which has a slavish following by ignorant, toe-picking, former Birchers and Klansmen.

Sam, about the only thing you could take issue with, in the context you provided is the statement, "who believe that they are victims". There is a subset of the 47% who absolutely buy into the victim mentality and have played right into the hands of their dem masters/pols. They are as dependent as crack hos and will therefore vote (if they can make it to the polls) to continue to feed their habit.

Shawntae, that's quite a view you have their from the plantation. You need to cut back ont he moonshine, it's giving you anger management issues.
Ok, everyone...as our dear leader likes to say in his campaign...it's time to move forward........over the cliff.
'Years of steady, sustained growth.' LOL, sure if you're counting the number of people on food stamps.
'A vastly improved health care system.' You must have stock in healthcare companies and are profiting from the costs they have increased over the past couple of years... it's staggering.
'A president who has kept us out of new wars for oil, has ended one major war and is about to end another' Not bad for a limp wristed pacifist who bows and apologizes to lesser countries. Of course, he continued the drawdowns Bush started...how could he not, otherwise Code Pink and Cindy Sheehan would be mad at him. Now he's busy using soldiers as cannon fodder while training terrorists.
