Campaign volunteer going door-to-door "representing" the Pleasanton Police and Fire Departments

Original post made by Steve on Sep 22, 2012

This has to be illegal, and if it isn't, it certainly doesn't put the candidate in a good light. Let me preface by saying that I have no ties, nor preferences, for/to any mayoral or council candidate. A volunteer for Elaine DeMarcus just knocked on my door in Vintage Heights and identified herself as "representing the Pleasanton Police and Fire Departments" and offering information about the candidate. I queried her about her wording, asking if she was actually representing employees of those departments, or the employee unions, and she stated that no, she was indeed representing the two departments. This is wrong and should be stopped immediately.

I would guess a union member, union family member, or paid office worker of the Livermore department, so not recognized. They all fight for their excesses.

Probably is legal and I hope they do more of it. This will make it easier to identify union-backed candidates that we all should be careful to avoid.

Unless you want public unions to continue to suck away a greater percent of our city's budget and dig our unfunded pension liability hole even deeper. ;-)

I always vote with the Unions.

I've done the math. Trust me. The holes are getting deeper and deeper, caused by the unions, and soon there will not be a single hillside to stand upon to protect us from the oncoming tsunami that will threaten to crash upon us and leave us all under a Maoist collectivist socialist communist totalitarian liberal state.

"I've done the math. Trust me. The holes are getting deeper and deeper...".

If what you mean by that statement ("The holes are getting deeper") is that our roads are deteriorating because the city & state have reduced recommended funding/budgeting for road maintenance because employee compensation & pension costs are crowding out those budget items also, causing us to defer those costs at an even greater expense down the road, then I agree with the fake Arnold.

A nice volunteer knocked on my door as well. I was impressed, a candidate like DeMarcus who has a good record on public safety and transposuXrpvolunteer.

Sarah, I must have missed something--just what is it that DeMarcus has done for public safety? She hasn't been on the BART board for over 10 years!

DeMarcus is a union stooge.

She'll get votes from her union supporters and the ilinformed public - that is all.

It sure is nice to see the other more serious candidates distance themselves from the unions.

I've never seen her out attempting to fix potholes. Now, because I don't want to pay more taxes, I personally go out and fix the potholes myself. How that will help against incoming tsunamis is anyone's guess. But this is so important, it probably explains why the polls have Romney and all the other Republicans trouncing there liberal faker opponents. When Romney becomes president, I'm going to have throw a party with party favors all purchased at Walmart and other nonunion thug stores. Fakers will not be invited.

I actually spoke to this Erleene person after the Chamber forum. Never heard of her before and her Bart work was almost 20 years. And only 1 term She doesn't know any facts or figures, and she hasn't held a position on a commission in Pleasanton - ever.

She was an aide for some congressman about 30 years ago and would be well suited to get coffee, but that's about it. Not the the brightest bulb on the shelf. Toss her back.

Aren't Cheryl cook-Kallio and Erlene Demarcus running mates? Are they in this as a pair? I thought Cheryl talked Erlene into running with her as a team. Can someone explain this to me? Can I vote for one and not the other?
