Tri-Valley Babe Ruth 13YO All-Stars Advance to Babe Ruth World Series!

The Tri-Valley Babe Ruth 13 year-old all-star team advanced to the Babe Ruth World Series, to be held in Silverdale, Washington, by beating Southern California (El Segundo) 18-1 and 18-13. Tri-Valley fought through the loser’s bracket playing in six games within 72 hours to capture the Pacific Southwest Championship.

Playing in the spring training home of the Kansas City Royals and Texas Rangers, with the game time temperature of 108 degrees, Tri-Valley banged out 16 hits in the opener and never trailed. James Cowick and Ryan Bowman split pitching duties holding Southern California to 6 hits. Jack Morgan, Jack Fryer and Nate White added two hits while Darroch Koel, Saiki Roy, Jack Maloon, Cowick, Matt Neswick, Jared Dawson, Clark Eder, Bowman, Nicholas Venezia and Max Moore all contributed one hit. Pinch hitting for Venezia in the bottom of the 1st with two outs, Max Moore knocked in 3 runs to make it 7-0. Roy, Maloon and Fryer each knocked in 2 for the win.

In the “winner-take-all” championship game, with the temperature at 104’, Tri-Valley trailed 4-0 after 1 inning, 8-2 after 3 and 9-4 after 3, leaving the bases loaded in the 2nd and 3rd, before adding 2 in the 4th, 8 in the 5th, 3 in the 6th and 3 in the 7th. Ryan Bowman started the game with Darroch Koel getting the win in relief. Josh Ott closed it out pitching the 6th and 7th. Jack Maloon and Jack Fryer added three hits each with Roy, Cowick, Bowman and Moore adding one each. In the 7th, James Cowick knocked in 2 with a monstrous double off the 350’ sign in left. Cowick scored 4 times in game. James Cowick, Jack Maloon and Jack Morgan were named to the all-tourney team with Jack Morgan named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.

Tri-Valley now advances to the Babe Ruth World Series in Silverdale, Washington August 15th through 22nd.
