It would be interested to know if the senior complex that was being built was a non-union construction site. Over the years, their have been a number of structures burned at non-union sites just when framing has been completed. This is when the structure is most vulnerable because there is lots of wood with very little fire retardant material -- usually results in a complete loss. Any a number of previous occurances they have found the perps were union goons delivering the message that if you use non-union labor you are going to suffer catastrophic consequences. There was a report that a security guard was been "hassled" by three men just before the fire broke out. Is this another case of evil (i.e. gangster)unionism?

On another note, why in the world would they be building this structure so close to the BART tracks? That's just dumb.

Any body care to bet that crime went down in Pleasanton during the time the BART was shut down? Just sayin.'

Excellent post, E and D. I think the math supports what you are saying. This sort of union hooliganism occurs all over the country, but I've seen it especially in Chicago. It's why I became a libertarian. It's a crying shame when people have to be double protective of their private property because union goons are waiting to "teach them a lesson." The questions I want answered are: How long is this going to go on? For how long has the Obama administration either turned a blind eye toward this union thuggery or, indeed, as some quantitative analyses suggest, even promoted it? When are people going to wake up to the mounting wave of govt'l indifference to unions bilking the American public of its hard-earned tax dollars? What is PUSD, specifically, and the govt'l officials of Pleasanton going to do about this? It's getting worse all the time, and will continue to do so unless we stanch the flow of union activity. Get ready for the flood!
