We all owe a big thank you to whoever reported the fire promptly &

Our fabulous fire department for containing the fire in high winds.

Scary & too close to homes!

The fire came within 20 ft of our fenceline. Many thanks to our fire department who quickly got the fire under control. Fire Chief told me that since we cut the tall dry grass and created a firebreak, that this action saved our fence and home from fire damage. Please, for those of you who have homes that backup to dry grass area, create a fire break now and protect yourselves. This grassfire will be one of many this season.

Irene and neighbors, we appreciate all the efforts in creating those fire breaks so early in the season. It was just a few weeks ago those hills were so green. Not only did you all save your street of homes but ours too across Bernal. We have all seen how big fires can jump streets. We were out of town and received calls with frightening videos. Very scary when you can't do a thing but wait and see what the outcome. Anyway thanks again for the fire break efforts. It made the difference and saved all of our homes.

Does anyone have an idea how the fire started?
