I hope this kid is going to be okay. How can a driver be so careless? From the article, it sounds like the kid was not going that fast, I hope the driver gets a suspended license, we do not need careless drivers out there.

Too bad he was not wearing the helmet. And parent and resident, it does not say in this article who is at fault. I would hold those comments until that is released, for all we know the biker could have been in the wrong.

I hope he is okay. I agree with Anonymous... we cannot tell from the report if the driver is at fault.

Parent and Resident - if I am reading the logistics of this article correctly the bicyclist was riding westbound on Bollinger on the south side of Bollinger Road which if I am picturing it correctly he was riding against traffic. Regardless, he is just a kid and kids usually don't think too much about traffic rules until they start driving cars. So even if he was in the wrong he is just a kid.

The PW article says the kid was riding on the sidewalk, and another article (Comment partially removed by Pleasanton Weekly Online staff) says the boy was on the crosswalk, that would put the driver at fault.

Besides, we as drivers must be extra careful when either a cyclist or a pedestrian is around.

I shop at the Whole Foods in that area and I see a lot of pedestrians and cyclists at certain times, and I am always extra careful for that reason. The driver, it sounds, was just not paying attention.

We will see what happens, but I hope the kid is okay and that the driver learns a lesson from all this.
