No Longer a Hospital.

The people of Livermore raised the money to build ValleyCare,

Then they left Livermore, and closed the Emergency Room, but left a very poor "Urgent Care" , staffed by trainees and inexperienced people where it was.

(Don't ever go there if you can help it!)

Now it sounds like they are taking away the Occupational Health service too?

What about all the people of Livermore?

My elderly mom broke her leg, and I foolishly took her to Valley Memorial Hospital which was nearby.*

They never told me they were not an Emergency Room anymore.

The nursing staff were trainees. After long waits, they confirmed her leg was broken, gave her a shot for the pain, and a leg brace that was far too big, and painful; and sent her home without doing anything for her broken leg. They did help get her into the car, to get out of there; and told us to seek medical attention. This was on a Saturday, and she was in real pain when the shot wore off. We could not see a surgeon until Monday.

*If this happens to you, better to call 911, and get an ambulance.

Urgent care does *not* mean the same thing as an emergency room!! I have found the care to be faster than the ER and quite good for things like sinus infections and food poisoning on holidays & weekends...Very competent M.D.s in my experience....

Another 'rip off' of Livermore citizens by Valley Health Care System... who took our $ and then closed the Livermore Hospital... basically 'crooks'.... thanks Marty Inderbitzen!

Tracy HAS a Hospital...Livermore HAD a Hospital, but no more....go figure.... just don't get sick in Livermore unless you want a $2000 ambulance ride! Valley Health Care has abandoned Livermore residents and citizens. Sad, sad, sad.

Where have you people been? There has not been an emergency room for 10-15 years. The sign clearly says "urgent care". The Pleasanton hospital is 7 miles from the Livermore campus. You can't have a hospital on every corner. Hellloo.... people complain about the cost of health care, but then want everything everywhere.

And by the way, there is still Occupational Health, and the staff are not trainees. Very misinformed.

By the way, after Livermore Valley Memorial Hospital* sent my mom home without doing much to help her, I went to St. Vincent De Paul 's to see whether I could buy her a wheelchair.

Obviously she could not stand.

They were very nice, asked why I needed it and insisted on giving it to me without charge.

( I gave it back later, after my mom recovered.)

*That is NOT a Hospital anymore, and since this happened, they have covered the sign. I assure you the nurse trainees were not yet Nurses.

My heart goes out to Livermore residents. I saw the changes over the years.

In the sixties, there was a major drive to create a hospital. Then, what happened? Privatization? Not sure but those of us kids at 5th Street elementary that raised money for our community hospital felt betrayed.

Word of warning, when a "non-profit" tells you that going private is in the best interests of all, are bull of BS.

Valley Care Emergency Room in Pleasanton is no better than Urgent care!! My only wish is that someday they, in the emergency room, get treated the same way they treat their patients. Never complain, as it goes in one ear and out the other. They protect one another. If someone makes a mistake, or does something wrong they all cover for one another. Hopefully the saying is true.. "What goes around, comes around" to them. I am terrified of that ER!!
