Alameda County Supervisor Lockyer undergoing 'chemical dependency' treatment
Comments on Stories, posted by Editor, Pleasanton Weekly Online, on Feb 15, 2012 at 9:00 am

Alameda County Supervisor Nadia Lockyer said yesterday that she's in a wellness and recovery center to be treated for "chemical dependency and chronic pain" stemming from a past car accident as well as for injuries she said she suffered in an assault at a Newark motel on Feb. 3.

Good for her! I know (all too well) the cycle of chronic pain and then dependency on pain meds. It happens to people of ALL backgrounds. I've been to rehab, and met doctors, cops, plumbers, insurance agents, you name it. Pain pills do NOT discriminate.

I hope she gets the help she needs and that she resigns her position immediately to expedite the healing process. The number of elected officials that are not making very bad or illegal decisions (shoplifting, DUI's, spousal battery, etc.) is getting smaller all the time. It's becoming so commonplace, it's starting to appear that these types of indiscretions are normal for Calif. (Dem) elected officials.

"Lockyer said a story in the San Francisco Chronicle that said she was violently assaulted by an ex-boyfriend when she met up with him at a Newark motel after she fought with her husband is "generally true." Yup, I guess that kind of thing can happen to anyone....

The Dems need to take a page out of Republican playbook and only put moral people into office. My study of history shows that Democrats place bad candidates in office at a rate of 12 to 1 over Republicans. Democratic corruption is bad, really really bad. And Obama is most incompetent EVER, and I mean EVER.

How hard is it for you trolls to focus on this state, as I mentioned in my original post? Apparently, reading comprehension is also not a strong suit for dems and their defenders either.

Oh, look over there, at that bright shiny thing....you guys are so easily distracted. No wonder you vote the way you do and later have to defend your questionable choices.

I can see why drugs and alcohol are popular amongst you all......

Let's focus on the state, and specifically statism. Owebama is over his head, really really over his head.

Steve said: "How hard is it for you trolls to focus on this state, as I mentioned in my original post? Apparently, reading comprehension is also not a strong suit for dems and their defenders either."

So you would like us to focus on California and how "it's starting to appear that these types of indiscretions are normal for Calif. (Dem) elected officials." Just to jog folks' (convenient) memories, there have been more than a few of these "types of indiscretions" for Republican officials here in California:

David Dreier, Representative (R-CA): Voted against a number of gay rights proposals, but was outed concerning his relationship with his chief of staff. (2004)

Ken Calvert, Representative (R-CA): champion of the Christian Coalition once said "We can't forgive what occurred between the President and Lewinsky." Arrested for soliciting a prostitute for oral sex in his car.

John Schmitz, (R-CA) and leader of the ultra conservative John Birch Society, admitted to having a second family, but refused to accept or support the two children he produced who became wards of the state.

Randy "Duke" Cunningham (R-CA) accused of accepting more than $1 million in bribes in exchange for millions more in government contracts.

Richard Gardner, Republican candidate: Convicted in California in 1988 for lewd and lascivious behavior with a child under the age of 14 -- a felony sex crime. The victim was his own 12-year-old daughter. Investigation led to exposure of two additional sex-crime convictions, one involving the same daughter, and one involving another daughter under age 14.

Michael Dobbins Duvall,(R-CA) was caught on tape bragging to a fellow committee member about extramarital sex with two women, one of them alobbyist. Los Angeles local television first aired the tape on September 8, 2009, and Duvall resigned the next day.

Republican Judge Ronald C. Kline of Orange County, California was placed under house arrest for child molestation and possession of child pornography.

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger (Republican) was married to Maria Shriver for over 25 years and the couple had four children together. In May 2011, it was revealed that Schwarzenegger had fathered a son with the couple's housekeeper over 13 years earlier and that Schwarzenegger had hidden this fact from both his wife and his son since his birth.

Bill Lockyer's deep pockets paid for his wife's campaign for supervisor. The other candidate was Liz Figeroa, long-time Bay Area resident, who is a veteran legislator, having served as a California state senator for years. I voted for Liz, and was sorry that she was not elected. Ms. Lockyer did not have anywhere near the same kind of experience in politics. I am sorry though for anyone who is afflicted with alcoholism and addiction and hope that she benefits from treatment.

When I say focus on the state, I mean focus on the state that the Democrat party has made for us. Raising all those "Republicans" isn't relevant. Besides, many of them are RINOs. The job is to replace the worst president in history with someone who isn't over his head.

Ms. Lockyer needs to resign immediately.

I hope she gets the help she needs to get better. And then she needs to spend time with her young son. She has no experience - nor the mental capacity to sit on a board that manages $2.5 Billion dollars of taxpayers money.
