VERY REVEALING: McNerney Votes AGAINST National Defense Authorization Act!

Original post made by !, Amador Estates, on Aug 24, 2011

McNerney and 77% of the other Democrats don't want our military in a hostile fire area to fully protect themselves from hostile actions.

This alone should tell you which party is pro-military and pro-national defense in general.

This Amendment requires that the rules of engagement [ROE] allow any military service personnel assigned to duty in a designated hostile fire area to have rules of engagement that fully protect their right to proactively defend themselves from hostile actions.

143 out of 185 Democrats present -- 77% -- voted against this amendment; 217 out of 235 Republicans present -- 92% -- voted for it.

Think about this the next time our (mis)representative McNerney poses for a Pleasanton Weekly photo-op with the Veterans!

I realize this requires a huge cognitive task on !'s part, but care to contextualize matters? Too difficult for you? Thought so.

Happy to oblige you J, tho what i provided including the link to the amendment itself should be sufficient.

Florida Republican Congressman John Mica offered the following morally clear Amendment (5/25/2011-H.AMDT.318 (A018) Amends H.R.1540):

Amendment requires that the rules of engagement [ROE] allow any military service personnel assigned to duty in a designated hostile fire area to have rules of engagement that fully protect their right to proactively defend themselves from hostile actions.

The results? (tallied here):

143 out of 185 Democrats present — 77% — voted against this amendment; 217 out of 235 Republicans present — 92% — voted for it.

That's not context, that's only mindless parroting of the link which is far too sketchy to reach any conclusion about -- save that those who would seek to draw idiotic conclusions from insufficient evidence are themselves idiots.

It is time to stop killing our children overseas and wasting money we don't have.

Sounds almost Republican, doesn't it?

jennica-your engaging in name calling when you're the one too lazy to look into the issue, but instead add nothing to the conversation? What was your point anyway, other than to defend the indefensible Dems. b-I agree with you (for once) about wasting money overseas. A good example is our recent support for Libya that obama instigated. We have to vital interest in that country---let them fight amongst themselves and settle their issues.

We've got nothing to do with Libya, world oil supply and demand, and sabotaged jet liners that go down with over 100 people aboard. Our involvement in Libya has been unjustified from the get-go. We should only engage in just wars like Iraq (well, it was just until Obama got into office anyway). We need to condemn the blood thirsty tyrant Obama for senselessly sending tens of thousands of American soldiers to their death in Libya.

sd-you can't have it both ways. Either our military's envolvment overseas (even in support of NATO) is justified or it isn't. Just because your messiah made the decision to commit resources to Libya doesn't make in anymore right than previous foreign escapades. Obama said he'd get us out of Iraq and yet we're still there---more of the same. Just because it's your guy calling the shots, doesn't mean he gets a pass.
