Michele Bachmann's Headaches: Real Issue or Not? By Cindy Cross
Should Michele Bachmann's issue of suffering from migraine headaches impact her bid for president?
Herman Kane, fellow GOP presidential hopeful thinks her migraines are a non-issue, "If she's showing up for her events, and she's doing what she needs to do as a United States congresswoman, people shouldn't worry about her migraines," Cain told The Associated Press after a fundraiser in New Hampshire. "My wife has migraine headaches. I understand migraines. So I just think it's a non-issue."
The media has recently been condescending, hinting that Bachmann might become incapacitated during a critical time if she were to be elected.
In a recent interview, Bachmann admitted that her headaches, in their most severe form, have forced her to a hospital emergency room for treatment.
Bachmann has made it clear that her headaches have not interfered with her duties as a member of Congress; they won't interfere as president either.
Former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, suggested this week that the issue with her headaches is a legitimate concern. "If you're going to be president of the United States you've got to be able to do the job every day, all the time. There's no real time off in that job," he said.
Are the other GOP contenders just trying to rain on Bachmann's parade? Polls show Bachmann and Mitt Romney neck and neck as first place favorites.
Karl Rove, former adviser of George Bush made a suggestion for Bachmann, "If you're going to be president of the United States you've got to be able to do the job every day, all the time. There's no real time off in that job," he said. He went on to suggest that she release her medical records to the press to help dissipate any concerns from potential voters.
Migraines afflict over 28 million Americans, I think it may work to her advantageshe's got ailments just like the rest of us.
Is the media being too critical, or is this really an issue?

There is already a thread going on this. Cindy, if you want something in your name, the Michelle that hasn't be fully covered on this site is Michelle Obama and her husband's campaign activities.
...and since their campaign headlines can't be called 'campaigns' in print any longer, so as to not be confused with presidential duties
Didn't you think it newsworthy that Barack went to Puerto Rico to campaign to sway the heavy Puerto Rican voters in Fla, an important state to carry. He ignored JOBS while campaigning out of the country.
We didn't get much coverage on his social media event at Facebook, securing the management support of young Billionaire Zukerberg...insuring a healthy social media campaign of kids, like he had last time.
Following Facebook there was a SanFrancisco Millionaires & Billionaires event for Obama and part the large print press reporters, and being in SanFran, SFChron reporters were ask to be there. Their most senior political reporter, Carla Marinucci, was taking notes, and like most in the room also used her camera phone, which so outraged Obama he forbid her from using 'real words' and forbid her from from reporting on her events ! ! go figure . I believe the PW even got in trouble once quoting Michelle, and even had to taking off info that was on the web forever.
It is really chilling how they want to censor the press. Of course the topper was several weeks ago, when a respected moderate, left-of-center reporter (not a Rep) was commenting on tv the day after on of Obama's speech, when Obama acted a bit childish in attacking some republicans, comparing to his girl's doing their homework. On the show the panel was chewing about the speech, thinking they were off the air at the moment, and he commented on "Obama acted like '..ick', so within 24 hrs msnbc had fired the pundit/author...after appropriate phone calls from the WH. Similar actions of the first 3 months of the new administration, ABC had to fire John Stossel (Give Me A Break) and CNN fired Lou Dobbs....right fromk the start get put the fear in the press/media,...talk about controlling the message. So SAD, not what Thomas Jefferson meant when he was talking about 'Freedom of the Press'. We need a LOT more 'coverage' on the scary 'silencing' of the press, as Michelle and Barack are doing their undercover 'group' campaigning. Michelle Obama then went to Chicago for more campaigning....but we don't know what she really promises,.
As far as Michelle Bachman, tv, radio, newspapers, and this PW site have covered Bachman's headaches.. I don't want her social beliefs, with or without headaches! She won't get the independents vote from coast to coast. Much better for her to continue to stay representative of 'her district'....it won't work for the rest of the country.
All the DEMS have to stay on 'script'. You might have seen yesterday, Obama, every Dem Senator, Representative, pundit added new words to 'the script' ...now it's millionaires and BILLIONaires, and corporate jets and YACHTS ! ! ! Does that mean all the Kennedy yachts at Cape Cod compound, and John Kerry's yachts that go with his 7 mansions ??? Instead of campaigning, I so wish Obama could get focused, and then stay focused on JOBS, JOBS, JOBS...and I don't mean more PUBLIC union jobs, green jobs, or inner-city jobs. It's the traditional mid-level taxPAYERS in manufacturing/sales, main street, etc who can't pay taxes again,,,,,,until they get jobs again, and many have depleted savings and now another round of foreclosures will follow. FORGET about houses. Housing will take care of itself when CA are no longer 10-11% UNemployed. NO jobs, NO home loans ! duh
