On June 15, 2011 the Board Redistricting �Ad-Hoc� Committee will be presenting the full Board with their recommendations on the Redistricting Map(s) that warrant study or modifications, or Map(s) that should be forwarded to the full Board for final consideration. Given that the �Ad Hoc� Redistricting Committee is Supv Haggerty and Supv Carson (did anyone know that?), I will be VERY surprised if any Redistricting Map other than Map A is recommended for final consideration. Supv Haggerty would like us to believe that �he�s not pre-judging the plan�. REALLY? He and Supv Carson developed �the plan� - aka Map A. By keeping redistricting completely �in-house� with the Board of Supervisors (�BofS�), the supervisors have guaranteed they will get what they want � not necessarily what is good for Alameda County residents and their communities.
The BofS portion begins on page 123 of the actual document. I LOL�d when I saw that the first two �Values� the BofS would like us to believe they govern by are:
- Integrity, honesty, and respect fostering mutual trust.
- Transparency and accountability achieved through open communications and involvement of diverse community voices.
So far, I haven�t seen much of either in this BofS process.

Just discovered one more thing. There are now three new redistricting maps. Maps E and F have been drawn by the County, and Map G from the independent citizens group. Web Link
I haven't identified all the changes, but a quick look shows that Map E moves Pleasanton completely out of District 1 and into District 4. Dublin and Livermore are 100% in District 1, along with part of Fremont and 275 of the 913 Sunol residents. District 4 is being shown with 100% of Pleasanton, Castro Valley, Cherryland and Fairview, with parts of Ashland and Oakland. Really??
Map F shows 100% of Pleasanton and Livermore in District 1, with parts of Dublin, Fremont and Sunol.
The good news for both Maps E and F is that the tiny numbers of residents split out in Map A have been included within a larger community.
Map G shows 100% of Dublin, Pleasanton, Livermore and Sunol in District 1, along with parts of Fremont and 3,824 non CDP residents.

I saw that the first draft for the California Assembly, Senate, Congressional Districts, and State Board of Equalization maps are out: Web Link
For the CA Assembly and Senate, it looks like the Tri-Valley is kept together. For the Congressional Districts, CD-10 gets a big chunk out of the middle of the Tri-Valley (mostly Livermore) while Dublin and Pleasanton end up in CD-11 together with Tracy, Manteca, and Morgan Hill. :(

You're welcome! Unfortunately not much transparency with the BofS when the ONLY public hearing the newest three maps were presented at was the last one -- and they must have been added at the last minute, because they weren't on the agenda when I put out the last post re: that meeting a couple days ago...
I was much more impressed with the work from the Commission. They had/have MUCH more work to do on redistricting than the BofS and they did it, as was mentioned in their meeting several times yesterday, keeping in mind one of their prime criteria: "Districts must respect the boundaries of cities, counties, neighborhoods and communities of Interest, and minimize their division, to the extent possible". They also published all of the public comment they received on their website. Kudos to them!
re: The 1st draft on the new Congressional districts. Which map are you looking at? When I watched/listened to the meeting yesterday I thought the Congressional map covered for our area is under "Bay Area PDF Files" and listed as "Fremont – Newark – Union City". The map itself is called "FRENEWUNION" and it has Dublin, Pleasanton, Livermore, Hayward, San Leandro and Union City in one district. Let me know if you think it's a different one. Thanks!

Nevermind. Somehow I got directed over to the current maps for the Congressional Districts.
