Next Meeting Milestone Alameda County Supervisorial Redistricting 6/15/2011
Original post made by Billie on Jun 10, 2011
Given that the 'Ad Hoc' Redistricting Committee is Supv Haggerty and Supv Carson (did anyone know that?), I will be VERY surprised if any Redistricting Map other than Map A is recommended for final consideration. Supv Haggerty would like us to believe that 'he's not pre-judging the plan'. REALLY? He and Supv Carson developed 'the plan' - aka Map A. By keeping redistricting completely 'in-house' with the Board of Supervisors ('BofS'), the supervisors have guaranteed they will get what they want ' not necessarily what is good for Alameda County residents and their communities.
The BofS portion begins on page 123 of the actual document. I LOL'd when I saw that the first two 'Values' the BofS would like us to believe they govern by are:
- Integrity, honesty, and respect fostering mutual trust.
- Transparency and accountability achieved through open communications and involvement of diverse community voices.
So far, I haven't seen much of either in this BofS process.
