Town Square Forum Header Inflammatory Comments on Stories, posted by Dog Lover, a resident of the Another Pleasanton neighborhood neighborhood, on Jul 19, 2008 at 11:08 am
Jeb Bing and Gang at their best -- yet again.
I'm not sure of anyone has noticed the new header for the forums throughout the Pleasanton Weekly web site.
"Pitbull unleashed." Added to it:
"I'd just want to bring to your attention and the Pleasanton community..."
While there may be no "dog" specific "dig" intended, I think those who own particular breeds of dogs might find it somewhat offensive.
But then, what else can one expect from a weekly throw-away paper that leans towards inflammatory journalism? Using the PW to line a puppy pen would at least lend this rag some value.

Sheeeeeeeeesh...you are a serious fuss budget Dog Lover. Or, should I say Miss Pittypat?
I have 2 doxies and don't find the header in the least bit offensive. Still, I would love to be the one that removes it because so many of my sweet posts have been removed?

Cholo -- Grew up with Doxies. Great breed, very loyal and protective. Suffice to say I share my home with a breed with a bit more moxie than a Doxie these days though -- and I'm a tad bit tired of getting "the look" for my breed of choice when I walk them.
PW doesn't help with perceptions when they use headers of this nature. But then again, as I said -- what can one expect from a "free-be" throw-away that takes up more landfill than it is worth.

Everybody knows that "pits" are dangerous around kids. It has been proven time and time again. It's time to ban this breed in the US and to put to sleep all living pit owner's if they don't cooperate!
PW is not responsible for reshaping the violent behavior of pits. Especially armpits like you! Tee hee hee, tee hee hee...

Dog Lover: Two questions. I am confused, so help me understand.
"Pitbull unleashed". Two simple words. Why are they inflammatory? Please explain. In answering this question, pretend you are explaining your reasons to someone who just arrived from a foreign country. That way, we can learn your explicit thinking rather than your implied thinking on this subject. What is behind the act of unleashing a pitbull?
"UNREAD PW in the trash". I am puzzled, then, why are you reading these Town Square Forum posts on the web? If you don't read the PW, it would seem to me this thread would not exist since your unexplained indignation would also not exist, never having read the "free-be" PW which you say is UNREAD. Or is this another Alice in Wonderland situation where you want us to follow you down the rabbit hole?

Dog Lover--glad you love your dogs. I do too. But why not also love our community and earth? Your newspapers, including the PW, should be going in the blue recycling bags and the coffeee grounds in the green waste cans for composting! Then those worthless papers DO NOT end up taking space in the landfills.

Frank: I am more than happy to answer your two questions.
"Pitbull unleashed". Two simple words. Why are they inflammatory? My perspective is this -- Had the Pleasanton Weekly chosen other posts about dogs, they would have had a less "headline grabbing" header. Would "Labrador Unleashed" been as inflammatory? Or "Doxie Unleashed?" No. As Stacey pointed out -- this was pulled from an actual board post. Out of all the post PW pulled THAT one? Seems the intent was to grab attention and incite. I don't believe I need to go more basic that that.
"UNREAD PW in the trash". I am puzzled, then, why are you reading these Town Square Forum posts on the web? I used to read the PW and used to post here until the tenor and the tone of this "community" became clear. I surf past every once and awhile. More than that makes me physically ill.
