There is a special ballot box for all yes votes on new taxes. It’s the round one in the plaza right outside of Tully’s. You might have to push a few old cups down the hole first to make sure there is enough room. ;-)

I can't believe that anyone waited to the last day to vote.The ballot requires, what, one line mark and one signature? Postage pre-paid, too, as I recall.

VOTE NO. I don't have kids going to school here so why should I have to pay for all the illegals and others that rent and don't pay taxes.

Why? It's called being a contributing member to the greater good, which includes ensuring that the next generation receives a quality education, a primary reason why people want to live in Pleasanton, and contributes to the quality of life we have in this community.

While the No voters will be happy, I am truly sad for our community. It is always hard to get a 2/3 vote approved, and this was about as close as it could be.

But, the facts is that the negative impact will be felt by the students.

John, renters pay taxes too, it's called RENT. Any new property taxes that come down the pike are passed on to renters by landlords in the form of rent increases. Are you THAT simplistic and naive?

I guess I am disappointed in the community more than anything. Come on. If Fremont could pass the parcel tax, we could, too, right?

Maybe not. There is plenty of blame to go around. While I like and respect Parvin a lot, she should have slowed down the school board and cabinet before proceeding with this parcel tax. Come on. Not even a year in and she pushes the parcel tax without getting a feel for the community. A pretty lousy decision. I value everything else she has done, but pushing this so early in her tenure with the district was a bad move.

I should also shoulder some of the blame. I did not go out to talk with people about the tax and explain how it would have helped the schools.

Shame on all of us.
