Getting Started on Fundraising Now?
Original post made by Stacey on Mar 3, 2011
ILPS was started after Measure G failed and was run mostly over the summer when families are on vacation and not thinking about the schools. It raised quite a bit, but failed to meet its target and I believe this failure to be attributable to the time of the year it was run. The CORE campaign sought to fund hours that were cut for Tech and Library and other support staff. CORE is now ended. Both campaigns were conducted with the knowledge that there was no extra revenue coming from a parcel tax and that the schools community needed to raise funds in order to restore what was cut.
This time, we know ahead of time that even if the parcel tax passes, there will still be cuts because the amount will not cover all the cuts. Perhaps it is time to start thinking about getting the next donation drive started, before the results from Measure E are known after May 3rd. To wait means to take the risk that there will be a repeat of ILPS with fundraising over the summer while families are gone. Getting started now means a new donation drive could capitalize on the attention brought to the issue from the Measure E campaign.
Please consider it.
