Tired of hearing about all the bad things. Crimes & Incidents, posted by Tango, a resident of the Vineyard Avenue neighborhood, on Nov 24, 2010 at 9:54 am
Tired of hearing about all the things happening to our younger people? Every morning I read the paper and see that another has been killed or picked up for a crime. I watch the news at night and still more young people are in trouble, Well I would like to tell you a happy story. There is a place in Livermore , where young people come willingly to help with special needs children and adults. These are teenagers that could be out with their friends doing who knows what. Some were headed down the wrong path and decided to turn their lives around. They heard about the program and decided to help out and have found a place they can do good things. Some also help at Camp Arroyo as councerlers If you want to see the other side of the coin. Come out to Cerro Vista on Tesla Rd and Join us at Rains In Motion and see how horses and our volunteers work to help our clients. This is the Largest Special needs riding group and services about 20 clients. We serve a Veteran that was not expected to live. If she lived she was not expected to be anything but a vegetable. With all her therapies and coming to Rains In Motion for riding therapy, she is now walking and talking, and rides and drives a horse very well.

I am a therapeutic riding instructor at a program in Livermore called Reins In Motion and I have 7 outstanding young adults that work with me on a weekly basis. They have to be the most generous and giving young people I know. They love the clients we work with unconditionally and treat them as every day people and our clients are thriving because of this. Several years ago I had the pleasure to help run a 4H Cart Driving Program. There were 10 very dedicated adult volunteers and we had 14 kids from the ages of 10-20 that worked together for 4 yrs. We took those young people every where and did all kinds of charity events. These kids worked as a team and helped to build up each others strengths instead of their weaknesses. They were an amazing group. If you give young adults a job and give them a responsibility and hold them accountable, they will take what ever you give them and run with it and blow ones mind on how well they can succeed. It is amazing what happens when you put horses and people together. Horses have a way of healing our Hearts and our Minds.
