Looking for recommendations Restaurants, posted by Tim, a resident of the Another Pleasanton neighborhood neighborhood, on Nov 15, 2010 at 12:54 pm
We frequently eat out at places such as Macaroni Grill, Panera's, Black Angus, etc. where we can get a reasonably good meal (we are not gourmet meal people) at a reasonable price ($20-$30 for the two of us, no drinks). We live in Pleasanton and would like to support our downtown restaurants but they seem to be too expensive for us. We last ate at Stacey's a few months ago and paid over $50 for two meals with no drinks.
Are there some reasonably priced restaurants in the downtown area?

This person asked for recommendations downtown and got mostly restaurants outside of downtown. Follow directions.
Decent priced food downtown: Vic's (closes at 2pm), Amelia's Deli, Cafe Main, Dean's (closes at 2pm), Saigon, Emilio's El Portal, Main Street Brewery.
Yelp is for yuppies. I never trust someone else's bad experience to be my own. Always try something once. The downtown association has a list of restaurants online at pleasantondowntown.net under the business directory.

My co-workers and I have had 2 great meals recently at Jiou Yuan Mandarin Bistro on Angela. Weekday lunch was under $8 per person and included tea. The food was wonderful and generous. I do not know what their dinner prices are.
I disagree that yelp is for yuppies, in fact most everyone I know "yelps" and they are a diverse group of people. I do agree that despite a review, anything is worth a try.

Although it's not downtown, we like the sports bar in Dublin, next to Justin Michael's hair salon, in the shopping center with Country Waffle, across from Armstrong's garden center. Not fancy (at all!), and the food isn't real imaginative, but I've never had food that wasn't delicious. If you don't go when there is a major sporting event, it's pretty quiet, and you can even play a quiet game of pool after you eat.
