Amarone's - you must try it! Restaurants, posted by Jillian, a resident of the Castlewood neighborhood, on Aug 5, 2010 at 9:56 pm
My husband and I tried Amarones (next to New York Pizza) about a week ago and I have to say that I felt like I was right back in Italy. The pasta made from scratch, the light, flavorful sauces - they were so authentic, fresh and light. Thank you for getting Italian cooking RIGHT. It's a must try! Matteo (the owner) is adorable and it's refreshing to know that a restaurant on Main Street is actually worth frequenting more than once!

Possibly one of the worst restaurants in Pleasanton. Have tried it twice...the mediocre food was reason enough to avoid, but the snotty service was intolerable. Never again.

I went to Amarone's this weekend. It was my first time there. I wanted to try their homemade pasta.
I personally found a welcome place to go. Their food tastes more like italian than most of the so called italian restaurants on Main Street, where spaghetti and meatballs, canned sauces, American Beauty Brand pasta and even frozen foods are served.
Although it isn't superb food, it is a place where you'll get your money's worth simply for the fact that they actually COOK there. I'm done going to restaurants where you are served re-heated food that comes from a box.
The funny thing is that after leaving, I went for a walk on Main Street with my wife, and we noticed that the above mentioned restaurants were doing better business than Amarone, which to me is a sad indication that mediocre food in Pleasanton is well accepted and preferred over food cooked from scratch.

Amarone's was recently sold to a new owner. We will have to wait and see if they continue with authentic Italian food or make it "California Italian" like Pasta's and Baci.
