Lots of police surrount an abandonned taxi on 4/6 Crimes & Incidents, posted by Birch Creek Resident, a resident of the Downtown neighborhood, on Apr 8, 2010 at 9:29 am
Several police cars surrounded what looked like an abandonned taxi on Birch Creek Drive after 10:00 on 4/6. It was parked in the middle of the road so no one could get by on either side, crooked, so looked like it was abandonned quickly. The police were looking in the bushes etc. Does anyone know what happened ?

We, the residents of the City of Pleasanton, ever learn anything about such happenings as this? Which occur so very frequently in our fine little burg? Never! That just might upset the carefully polished veneer of being a safe place in which to live, this Community of Character we have been designated!

Virginia... Why the sarcasm? These types of things do occur infrequently in Pleasanton, that is one of the reasons I chose to live here rather than in San Francisco, or on the Peninsula. Maybe I misunderstood your tone, but is it wrong to choose a neighborhood or community based on the feeling of safety for you and your family?

Virginia, Maybe infrequent isn't the right word, but we are fortunate enough to live in a community where cops surrounding an abandoned car isn't soup-du-jour.
As for the Community of Character proclaimed by the City, it's a nice value that is good to promote within the community. What would you propose as a value the City should align itself with and promote to it's citizens? You seem a bit jaded, but that's ok, everyone has a right to their opinion, I just respectfully don't share yours.

Why do people care more about stone throwing and whining and not sticking to the topic at hand & contributing? Sorry Birch Creek Resident, I understand your concern but I don't know any information either.

I think you all watch to much television. a) is it possible a cab broke down and the driver was not smart enough to push it out of the way or mechanically it could not be pushed out of the way? or b) is it possible the cab driver parked the car and did not place the car in park and set the emergency brake?
On multiple occasions I have seen these things happen.

Pleasaton has a myriad of crimes that occur everyday! Most folks are oblivious! Granted, most crimes in the tri valley are drug or dui related is is interesting to see what else happens around here under the guise of Character! Check out this website

To all the above people who placed comments.....why don't you just request a copy of the police crime log which is public record? If you did this you would know the taxi cab driver was robbed and then chased the suspect who ran.

Why can't the police post the crime logs on the 'net or in a local paper? Perhaps they do but I've not seen any such thing. Some towns on the peninsula do this so you can pick up a local paper to learn what went on in the local newspaper.
If there is such a blotter in this area, I'd appreciate it if someone would say where we can find it.

good ol pleasanton. its true there is crime here everyday, not just minor stuff. the pleasanton weekly is just one of the outlets that taylor makes the news to make pleasanton people feel as if they are better than others. hard core crime in pleasanton gets no regular coverage. take for instance the bed and breakfast at the top of longview ave off foothill sometime ago a black man from oakland was found going through the house/bed and breakfast at about 6:15 am ( burglary ) while the homeowners were there, when confronted by the homeowners he claimed to be looking for a senior living facility. when the police arrived it was determained he had been inside ( while people slept) atleast two other homes in pleasanton that night/ early morn. never any coverage at all this just one example of the pleasanton cover-up that happens everyday in town. what we need is accurate reporting as it happens, for an example go to the TRACY PRESS web site. THATS REGULAR, UP TO DATE, ACCURATE REPORTING.
PLEASANTON WEEKLY COULD FILL A PAGE EVERY WEEK, WITHOUT EVEN TRYING.
I KNOW IT WOULD BE THE MOST READ PAGE IN THE PUBLICATION
