What do the teachers suggest districts do? Until the teachers union learns to be reasonable and agree to things like freezing step and column, layoffs and cancelling programs will be the new trend.

Their stupid theatrics really make me outraged, and as far as I'm concerned defeats and negates every word they say. NOTHING ever makes me as angry as teachers who ABUSE their position of power over students & preach their personal politics and biases. They should be arrested for inciting riots and disturbing the peace.
Just like 2 weeks ago, when CAL professors prompted and incited the protest...for teachers personal financial gain, but cowardly led ill-informed students to think it was about tuition.
I have such contempt for these radical teachers I truly hope they do lose their jobs. They try to stir the IGNORANT, ILL-INFORMED PULIC with scary 'pink slip' stories, when in fact the ed code requires these EARLY pink slip alerts....for the protection of the schools.... JUST IN CASE schools end up needing to fire some...it happens every year. Do you REALLY think the student PUPPETS know that. Contemptable!I hope they wind up homeless and out of work. THey can always add their names to the always ready 'rent-a-protester' CALL LIST ! Shame on them 'USING' students.

outraged: You are so ridiculous. "USING" students???? Ever think that these students know exactly what they are doing??? They are showing their support for their teachers. Wow students have a brain of their own??? Teachers don't actually brainwash their students like so many of you crazy people think???
Riots?!?!!! Talk about someone being "ill-informed" and "ignorant". Your words.

Teacher,I would happily repeat every word I said. You are so close, you don't see what you are doing...yes, 'using'. Students should not be caught in the middle. Why don't you protest with teams of taxpayers at your side ??..instead of young ones who can't vote because their minds have not yet finished developing.
I am puzzled at your name calling. Crazy ? Gee, I didn't call you names...just your stupid tactics and theatrics. I would have thought you were a leftist liberal....except....crazy? Naw, liberals tell us they are 'tolerant and open-minded', so obviously you can't be a liberal.

Please take it easy "Outraged". People can disagree with each without resorting to name calling and "hope they wind up homeless and out of work" comments. Lets try to have a civil discourse.

I feel bad that there are going to be layoffs within the school system, but money doesn't grow on trees. If there isn't enough money in the budget to go around, then something has to be cut.
This reminds me of the fable of the grasshopper and the ant. One prepared and saved up for the winter and one didn't. You can't spend like crazy when times are good and expect that you will be able to survive the bad times.
