kids on the roofs downtown
Crimes & Incidents, posted by james, a resident of the Pleasanton Meadows neighborhood, on Feb 12, 2010 at 1:11 am

I was downtown late one evening about a week ago. I had parked in the lot behind Stacy's resteraunt and as I was walking back to my car I saw some teens on the roof of the stores right next to Stacy's. About 30 seconds later a cop pulled into the parking area. By the time I was backing my car out, the cop was talking to some kids who had come down a ladder that was somehow left unsecured. this kids were all wearing backpacks but I would bet a hundred bucks they didn't contain school books.

I wonder how long this has been going on, and exactly what they are doing up there. that unsecured ladder giving them access is a HUGE liability for the landlord. What if one of those kids was seriously injured either on the roof or falling off of it? why don't their parents know where they children are and what they are doing?

My kid knows some of the kids that were up on the roof...unfortunately some kids are more Mischievous than others. Most kids if given an opportunity to try something daring would go for the chance especially boys. The boys that were caught are all from great families but unfortunately we can not hold of childrens hands 24/7 if they get into trouble... they need to pay the consequences unfortunately.. hopefully they don't have to but it is life.

Your comment "why don't their parents know where they children are and what they are doing?" is always going to be an unanswered question.. seriously I am sure that if you had children they do not tell you everything they have been up to. Best we can do is not point fingers but try to be parents to other kids and tell them they are doing wrong..
