I haven't heard any rumors about Panda, although I do have some general comments about them. They have some very silly rules. For example, let's say you are rather hungry and would like a bit more food than can be put in the small box but you don't want to get a rice bowl. You ask for a medium sized container of a meat dish and are told "You cannot order that. It is a Panda rule". You are either forced to buy less than you wanted (and end up on the hungry side) or to buy a lot more food then you were planning to.

No one is forcing anyone to go along with this, we can choose to walk away...and we will. I know some people who refuse to eat at Panda because of these silly rules. Yes, the food is good (for semi-past food)but there are other places that won't play these games.

At what eating establishment can you do that? I've never seen a place where you can order just a little more than what's on the menu..Pizza?? Hey there, just throw a couple more slices on there for free? Steak? Come on, give me another two ounces of the filet..

alot of people(especially children) leave their meals unfinished. If you are as quick as me, you can have a tasty meal(and as much as you want) for free.

Are you talking about The Panda in downtown Pleasanton, Panda Express on Santa Rita, or Panda Express in Dublin?

I have to think that the author is talking about The Panda downtown, as Panda Express just opened not too long and seems to be usually busy.

I've heard no rumors of it closing.

Yes, the Panda Restaurant in downtown Pleasanton is closing. Another restaurant will take over the space. I for one will miss the family owned Panda Restaurant and their staff. It was the best Chinese food in the area and the staff was very nice. I wish them the best of luck on their next endeavor.

to "Come on":

You completely missed the point. Panda offers three sizes of take-out containers: small, medium and large. If you want to have a meat dish for lunch you can order a small container or a large one. They will NOT let you order a medium sized container of meat. The comments by "come on" would only be valid if no medium-sized container existed.

It is foolish of panda to offer containers of all sizes but not let someone choose a medium-sized portion if in fact those size of containers are available. If the small portions are very small, then basically what they are doing is forcing people to buy more than they really need which leads to (a) the person spending more money than they really wanted to and (b) possible over-eating.

We really miss China Garden too. Since they closed, we've gone back to China Village in Dublin, which is great.

Most of these comments surely do not refer to Panda in Downtown. Some confusion by readers. Is the Panda restaurant downtown closing?

I didn't even know we have/had a Panda Express in our town. Where is it?

Blessings Restaurant is back in business on Santa Rita Road but in back of the shops and next to the UNCLE Credit Union.

I enjoyed the Panda on W. Angela in Downtown Pleasanton. I used to go there a lot and found the owners warm people, but as the economy is not what it was they were down 40% plus as much of the downtown businesses. I stopped by there today with my mom and sister who used to go with me from time to time, as saw a "Change of Ownership" sign in the window. It must have taken place recently as the original owner was not there to greet us. The food was bland and very "American" stylized, even by the way it looked.... Very disappointed to see the original owner and must be cheif gone, I won't be going there again. The food, if today was an example, was not up to par.

If the new owners want to uphold the standards of the previous owner they need to Not water down the flavors and get back to traditional cooking.
