I've been hanging out at Stoneridge forever with my friends, but now I keep hearing people say the mall will fall because of the new BART station opening up. This makes me extremely sad... I love that mall and have always enjoyed hanging out there.
Everything I have heard about this station has been negative, so why was it allowed? Will there be more security/police near the station? If not, will it ultimately end up a crime-ridden place? I'm really nervous.. not only for the mall, but for the potential stores/apartments near the BART station. That seems to be a risky place to put them.
I mean, I've only been to a few places on BART, but not ALL Bart stations are bad, right? I want to keep hanging around Stoneridge and enjoying the Christmas atmosphere. (AFTER Thanksgiving, though!). I don't really want to panic while walking to my car..
So, how does everyone feel about this? And is Pleasanton/Dublin adding more security measures? There's no doubt with more stores and more people coming in, not all of those people will be nice and "just want to shop."
Thanks! I just want to keep Pleasanton safe and the nice little town I've grown up in. :)

I have no evidence to counter what your friends have said, but I have no idea why a mall would fail when more people have access to it. Could it change? Of course. But I figure why it would fail. I'm also not sure why the new BART station would bring more crime than the current BART station as they are only a BART train distance apart. (I, as I'm guessing most people, are asking why are they even building the second station except for parking)
I wouldn't worry too much. There are far too many people in this area that need shopping, and the Stoneridge Mall is the only provider of most of these stores for many many miles.

This is part of Obama's plan to destroy America and replace it with Marxism. We wants everybody to take transportation and take away the fundamental right of all Americans to drive a car.

It's a bit tragic that people are automatically placing the future onto something that hasn't even opened. The comments about "what will happen to Pleasanton when the station opens" are the exact same as they were when the first station opened years ago. If you are truly worried about becoming panicky when walking to your car, I suggest not even patronizing the mall or possibly finding a place/town that will remain the same for years to come.

It is true that with a BART station located right at the mall, riders will be able to easily and quickly move by foot between the station and the mall, so its not just a question of being a bart stop away.
Whether or not riders will hop on the BART in Richmond or in Fruitvale or the Mission, ride to the mall exit, hop off, commit crimes, then hop back on, is the question.
The underlying question is whether current shoppers will be as comfortable in the future shopping with folks who are simply shoppping at the mall but who dont have a car, or a U.S. drivers license, to drive to the mall.
If the advice above is followed, and people stay away from the mall, from the fear of these scenarios, then the mall will suffer.

It seem to me that Dani Doeer been had many esperences. When you got the dan dan know how touch and splain ability, you follow the avice and scenarious and the mall will suffer!
