From the article linked: "The House Health reform bill contains sections that cut Medicare benefits, tax existing health care benefits, and increases taxes on the middle class, yet Mr. Owens stated today that he will now vote in favor of those things contrary to what he had promised the voters of NY's 23rd Congressional District that he would vote against."

Interesting that in an article that claims a congressman broke 4 campaign promises, they would have 3 lies about the house healthcare plan in a single sentence! The House plan does not cut Medicare benefits, rather it ends the subsidies private health insurers now get to administer Medicare Advantage plans on behalf of the government. This is not a benefit cut to medicare recipients no matter how much the liars in the GOP (the new saviors of Medicare? yeah right...) make it out to be. Increases taxes on the middle class? This is a lie. The only tax increases will hit those in the top .3 % of wage earners in america. Earning 500k of Adjusted Gross Income for an individual of $1 million plus for a couple does not make you a member of the middle class, no matter how skewed the view of the GOP. Taxes healthcare benefits. Yes it does do this to a small portion of healthcare recipients who have plans whose costs exceed 21k/year. To have a system where some have such lavish plans while millions go uninsured is patently unfair and needs to be rectified as part of any reform.

Just another case of more shoddy journalism for the supposed liberal media...
