Obama/PelosiCare: "Buy a $15k Policy or Go To Jail" (!)
State, National, International, posted by Dave, a resident of the Another Pleasanton neighborhood neighborhood, on Nov 6, 2009 at 4:26 pm

Unbelievable. Is this the America you're familiar with?

Does a big, bad insurance company have the power to do this? Maybe Obama should keep Guantanamo Bay open for regular citizens. Obama, Pelosi, et. al. wouldn't hesitate to throw us in there for non-compliance. We will lose more of our freedoms with this bill than any bill in my 60 years.

If you are outraged call the following Congressmen and tell them NO on the Health Care Bill. Here is where the following are leaning. (McNerney is solidly voting YES with Pelosi, surprise surprise)

Leaning Yes

so here's the thing. You don't buy insurance for your family despite the fact that you're being offered a subsidy from the government to do so, which means you're basically choosing NOT to insure you and your family and are thus willing to have the rest of us assume the risk you're taking if you get sick. So fine, you have that choice, but you're also choosing to pay a penalty on your taxes for not carrying insurance (the mandate fine). If you then choose not to PAY YOUR TAXES as you are required to do by law, and you don't pay the fine as part of your taxes, then you will be subject to penalty by law. Why that is shocking or controversial is beyond me.

Wait, did I read it wrong -- It isn't jail, it is a fine, like a tax penalty if you don't have insurance. You only go to jail if you don't pay your taxes. It has been that way for decades. Tax evasion is illegal. This article is a joke.
