Customer Service During the Holidays
Around Town, posted by PToWN94566, a member of the Walnut Grove Elementary School community, on Dec 30, 2007 at 8:53 pm

Is anyone else tired of being treated rude at stores, especially the mall, during the holidays? I bought pants about a week and half before christmas, for myself, and went back a few days after to exchange them for a smaller size. I didn't realize that the one's I grabbed were way to big for me until I had already purchased them. Well I went back to the store to exchange them as well as try on the new pants to make sure they fit. The conversation I had with the floor manager was not enjoyable- she told me I couldn't exchange or return the pants. Her excuse was that the tag was not attached to the pants; I did physically have the tag in my hand and I've never heard of a store not exchanging for that reason. I was then told there was nothing I could do about it and that I was stuck with the pants. I left the store and the next thing I thought of doing was to call another store to find out what the return policy was. I was told that all I needed was the tag and it didn't need to be attached in order to exchange. So I then called back the store here in Pleasanton- at the mall- and was then told that the pants looked like they had been worn! This was not the case as I wouldn't wear pants that hang below my butt; my wasit is size 30 and I don't think 34's would exactly sit on my hips. Overall, the floor manager was rude and I'm just spent on nasty holiday workers. Thank god it's over soon. O and parents who don't say excuse me when they run into your heels with their strollers are just as annoying.

That's my rant for the day.

I definitly understand your frustration! I was a manager in retail for 8 years and the holiday season makes things a LOT more stressful. No excuse on the managers part though. In most cases the customer is always right and it seems as if they were having a bad day and wanted to make yours just as bad. My advice to you: call the store and ask who their store manager is (NOT the manager on duty), ask to speak with them and explain the situation (and the rudness you encountered). If they will not do anything, ask for their district managers name and number (they would be STUPID not to give it to you as there are other ways to get it). I gurantee you, someone will do something and you will not end up with a pair of pants you can't wear. And if all else fails or they won't give you names, call another store and speak with that manager. Good luck!
