McNerney Website Subject Turnoffs

Original post made by curious, Downtown, on Aug 4, 2009

A vist to Jerry's web site revealed that two catatories listed for submissions..(Healthcare-Tell me what you think) and ( I need to Hear from you) have been taken down...really don't understand why
he would do this in light of all the recent discussion of his ducking the hard questions on today's issues..either pro or con..

He does not really want to hear what you have to say. He simply wants to tell you how to think. Questioning why the "tell me what you think" was disabled is to much thinking. Better stop that or you will be labeled a low level terrorist. Might have to report you to that gov web site on BHO page about spreading rumors so the WH can correct them. You are going to frighten our Congressman into believing you actually are on to his "gig" that Jerry knows best (or that Jerry does what Nancy tells him or else....)

Perhaps those of you truly interested in contacting Rep McNerney should try sending him an e-mail via his Congressional website Web Link rather than on an re-election organization website that probably isn't monitored.

Of course, sending Rep McNerney a message that would actually be delivered means that the sender would have to have a coherent comment, concern or idea to write to him about - using their real name. No more anonymous ranting on a hometown forum.

Perhaps because P-Town has some of the most outspoken radical conservative (Word removed by Pleasanton Weekly staff)
of all the bay areas! Look at this forum as compared to other communities!

YOU made you bed, so LIE in it folks!

Have fun being angry and proving you point with propaganda and more filthy lies.

Hmm writes "Perhaps because P-Town has some of the most outspoken radical conservative (Word removed by Pleasanton Weekly staff) of all the bay areas! Look at this forum as compared to other communities!"

Its OK for you to call people names but not OK for the "conservatives" to be "outspoken" and debate the issues that will directly affect them and their families?

If this community does not "compare" to the standards you see in "other communities" let me remind you that Pleasanton at least has easy freeway access for you to head North, South, East, or West.

I'm confident the people who read these posts will conclude who is radical and who is (in your exact words I note) the (Word removed by Pleasanton Weekly staff)

For Rae...
I did take a look at his Congressional website...I did send him a message with name and everything..:) but saw nothing scheduled on his public calendar for any kind of meetings...some folks can do all
the ranting they want..but the bottom line fact is that the gentleman is ducking out on any type of public input...

I find it curious, Curious, that you don't consider a message sent to your congressional representative via e-mail "public input".

For Rae..
those messages are read by his staff..and the point being made is that he is personally avoiding any and all types of public input meetings..maybe he could host a tweeter forum..that way he could be insulated and answer questions..just an idea...

Rae: Thank you for the web link. I have sent an e-mail.

I also called the office (phone # on site) and when I politely asked if there were going to be any Aug town hall I was told "all info is on the web site". I told the very sweet person who answered the phone there was nothing about Aug town halls" and she simply said "well".

When I asked her to elaborate on the "well" she said " well, you have to keep checking the website".

If in fact he plans a town hall, there will be little notice. So until I get an e-mail response, his silence on this subject speaks volumes.

As I said on another thread, why should Rep McNerney waste his time having a town hall meeting that would most probably be hijacked by a group of screaming people who are not interested in asking questions and getting answers, but rather just disrupting the meeting so those of us who ARE interested in getting information, cannot be heard. People who may not even be constituents (see Forum entries from "Emily" about disrupting a Pete Stark meeting).

Some sort of on-line forum is not a bad idea, although given the anonymous name calling and nasty commentary that goes on here, I doubt that it would be more productive than sending him an e-mail or two.

Whether he actually reads each and every message himself, or a synopsis is put together by his staff, I at least know that my questions and concerns are not going to be drowned out by people whose only intent in attending a public meeting is to disrupt it by screaming about liberty and freedom, while impinging upon my right to also have my voice heard.

Pleasanton weekly staff: Interesting that you would remove a word I cut pasted from " Hmm" post (and even noted in my post it was his exact words) but decided it was OK to let that same exact word I cut pasted remain on the "Hmm" post?

I think that is a reasonable question and hardly can be labeled an oversight since I cited the post it was used.

Rae,

You seem to have a keen interest in my posts. Perhaps you should read them a bit more carefully. Rather than advocating "disrupting the meeting so those of us who ARE interested in getting information, cannot be heard," I have CONSISTENTLY advocated PEACEFUL AND RESPECTFUL attendance.

You might want to consider some inner reflection as to just why you seem so opposed to PEACEFUL AND RESPECTFUL community involvement.

Wikipedia defines a town hall meeting as "an informal public meeting derived from the traditional town meetings of New England. Similarly to those meetings, everybody in a community is invited to attend, voice their opinions, and hear the responses from public figures and elected officials, although attendees rarely vote on an issue."

For Rae and Stacey: Emphasis on the "EVERYBODY IN A COMMUNITY IS INVITED TO ATTEND" part.

If I remember correctly he was elected by the people and for the people, therefore he should answer to the people, NOT THE DEMOCRATIC
PARTY!

Hmm,

You apparently voted for the "great community organizer" (BHO) who used the help of Acorn and SEIU protesters to get elected. You obviously thought that was GREAT! Now when a different community organizes you can't deal with it so you start in with the name calling. Fair is fair you Commie Lib - how do you like that? You are a like a Lemming following the orders of Nancy Pelosi and the rest of her gang. In case you're not sure of the definition of a lemming see below.

The behavior of lemmings is much the same as that of many other rodents which have periodic population booms and then disperse in all directions, seeking the food and shelter that their natural habitat cannot provide. It is unknown why lemming populations fluctuate with great variance roughly every four years, before PLUMMETING to near extinction.

Enjoy it now because I'm looking forward to the next election and waving bye bye Barack!

I experienced the same issue with McNerney's site, and it wasn't just his re-election site. I think this qualifies as "fishy" and should be reported to the whitehouse. The email address for reporting these "fishy" events is "flag@whitehouse.gov". Obama and his staff need to hear about this type of thing...elected representatives ignoring and avoiding their constituents. I'm sure they will do something about it ;-)

REMINDER:

McNerney was inspired to run for Congress by his son Michael, who in response to the attacks of September 11, sought and received a commission in the Air Force. Michael suggested that his Dad serve his country by running for Congress. With a deep sense of duty and his family's support, McNerney began his journey to Congress.

It's telling to me that when conservatives speak up and revolt against bad government ideas and policies the liberal left labels this as hijacking meetings, disrupting events, radical protests,etc...When the left protests, like all the Bush haters out there who called him so many distateful names and blamed him for everything except perhaps global (Hoax)warming, they call that free speech!

I challenge anyone here who is liberal and supports a government controlled healthcare to a town hall debate, where only substantive arguements can be presented instead of the unproductive labeling and name calling that is often used in this forum...

That would be pointless at the majority of those apposed to the plan, as evidenced on thousands of web sites and other formats of discussion; those opposed are not using accurate data as related to the Bill.

If those opposed took more time to ignore the media and read and understand the Bill, they would need to back track and present true concerns, not just recite the propaganda.

This is amazing. The libs are having the same tactics they have used since the 60's thrown back in their face and they have no idea how to deal with it other than complain. Let the fighting begin.

Not to worry, Nancy Pelosi has Jerry's private number and she'll phone him and let him know how she wants him to vote.....after all, she knows what you need. You just don't realize that the Dems know what is best for you, you poor confused souls......

Any Obama voters out there with "voters remorse"?

McNerney's son may be a hero...but the congressman is AWOL. Even CNN is showing that the best grade given President Obama right now is a C...far cry from the promises made in the campain. I was suckered in and I voted for him; I should have known better; he ran as a moderate and is now far left as are his policies. Yes, people are angry and want to let their representatives know it; Mr. McNerney should have the courage to take questions instead of follwing Ms Pelosi's talking points and hiding out during the recess. As a republican who voted for a Democrat for the first time I am truely disappointed with the foreign and economic policies of this administration. Now the liberal brown shirts are taking names of citizens who disagree on a White House website?...and Pelosi is calling conservatives Nazi's? Wasn't it Hillary Clinton who said it was unpatriotic not to speak out against policies we disagree with?...how can they have it both ways?

I sent an email to Jerry McNerney last night identifying my Zip Code +4, as requested. No problem. I read about some of the problems the commenters were having today with email messages, and I found that there now appears to be a "glitch" in the system and the website won't let me get past the first screen. All of a sudden, my Zip+4 is no longer recognizable to the website. What an interesting coincidence.
