Don,

are you Don the racist from the other blog or the conservative hating Don from the same blog? interesting in that most of the people voting for the F22 were liberal dems.

Don
Do you enjoy the freedom to walk down the street without worry?
Have you ever been in a war?
Have you ever been in a country when they have won their freedom.
Go back and hug your tree and take a fact check.
Lets ask the 3000 people who died in the World Trade Center.

Neither Don here, why do you ask?

Mr. Gates has said a new fighter, the F-35, is better designed to attack ground targets. The plane will be used by the Navy, the Marine Corps and the Air Force, and the Pentagon plans to buy more than 2,400 of them.

So they scrapped buying 7 F-22s for 1.55 billion. We already have a couple thousand of these and they have never seen a war!

BUT, and a BIG BUTT (no pun intended) we are going to purchace 2400 F-35's that cost much more each?

So, what is at least 1.75 billion, divided by seven, times 2500?

"Have you ever been in a country when they have won their freedom."
What Country is that and how does that relate to Iraq and Afghanistan?

"Go back and hug your tree and take a fact check."

Gladly! Which tree?

"Lets ask the 3000 people who died in the World Trade Center."

WTF does that have to do with any war we are currently in? Are yo one of the many brain washed nut cases wondering around preaching?

john, you certainly live in Pleasanton!

"Do you enjoy the freedom to walk down the street without worry?"

So, were at war killing thousands so you can walk down the street in Pleasanton at night and "feel safe"?

Get out and get around, go to Oakland, the Bronx or most anywhere but Pleasnton.

On your Segway perhaps?

As long as humans exist on this planet there will be political and religious differences, which means wars will be fought. If I'm not mistaken, prior recorded history will show this to be true...

Eventually if the recruting targets continue not to be met by this president we will start hearing from the democrats about bringing back the draft and I for one will not let my two boys put their life on the line for this president and they will set it out as I am sure many will.

@ Linda: "I for one will not let my two boys put their life on the line for this president"

First, you sound like Sarah Palin in your logic structure. Two, I don't think they ask mama's their opinion on whether their sons are eligible to drafted. If they did, every criminal in this country would be free because their mom's would swear on a stack of Bibles that it wasn't their baby's fault.

Third, and this is where it gets interesting ... IF every person in the military had the option to obey a command based on how their felt about their superior we would be in a world of hurt. IF every citizen were able to choose if they were to obey laws based on their like or dislike of the legislative members ... well, it's starting to sound stupid.

Linda, you not alone in your babbled logic. I think you truly represent the pampered Pleasanton conservative who can't see beyond their own vineyard. It's too bad, because if you really thought about the implications of what you said ... well, maybe people could start doing things against your best interest merely because they don't like you. Now would you really want this in your life?

M,

first off I am a democrat and voted for Obama as I have every democratic offering since I registered to vote in 1968. One of the major reasons I voted for him was his position or so I thought against war in both Iraq which he said at first he would end on day one and then changed and the exit strategy on Afghanistan. I am completely against war of any kind and all of them, Vietnam, Gulf War One etc. To your other point, my husband and I have had clear and open dialogue with both of our boys and our boys share our beliefs and will be out of here in a heartbeat if they sense they are going to be required to fight for a country such as this.

Yes! I remember the hippies who split to Canada to evade the draft during the Vietnam war. Are you saying that your sons would do the same? Okay! It is your right to pick and choose laws that only you personally approve ... Now! Just remember that is exactly what a drug dealer, rapist, thief is doing when they choose which laws apply to them. Some call it anarchy, but I guess you call "high and mighty"!

Again ... I urge you to think about the implications about what you are saying. If you are proposing that laws are voluntary ... well, I hope you pour holy water on a burglar (God forbid) that comes into your house because he believes like you. I for one, would prefer to throw him/her in jail ... as I would expect to have your sons thrown in jail for being traitors to our country ... again, just think of the implications about what you are saying, that's all I'm saying!!!

M,

I am well versed in the rights of conscientous objectors and they cannot be jailed for exercising their personal beliefs. I am truly against war and the killing which goes with it and you would be surprised by how many people in this town feels the exact way I do. I find it fastinating that you would group my sons who do not believe in war with thiefs, drug dealers, and rapists. Our President is not living up to what he ran for and I voted for and as such I will honor my beliefs and have my sons sit wars out. If you choose to sacrafice your children then that is your decision.

If you choose to defend anarchy, the ability to follow laws based on personal choice ... then by all means enjoy the fruits of your labor. Just keep a lot of holy water around when crime comes into your neighborhood ... and please don't whine when Pleasanton becomes a second Oakland ... you asked for it.

PS: Traitors are shot or imprisoned. Criminals are jailed or executed. They are both applying your principle of personal law to their situation.

M,

Why do I need to obey a law which I do not believe in and was passed by others with their own interests in mind. When was the last time a traitor was shot? and we are letting prisoners out by the drove. Oakland is not a bad place but just needs more tax money to perform and clean up. Pleasanton money should be used to help Oakland but we want to build ice rinks etc. Waste of time and money. Like I said a lot of people do not and will not support war like me and my family.

M, as in Mentally challenged,

Not sending your children to participate in an illegal invasion, to slaughter woman and children, is "Anachy"? Did the Government "follow the Laws"?

"and please don't whine when Pleasanton becomes a second Oakland ... you asked for it."

"PS: Traitors are shot or imprisoned. Criminals are jailed or executed. They are both applying your principle of personal law to their situation."

How is not wanting to participate in something you don't believe in, that is not keeping our country any safer, being a traitor?

And I think Bush and Cheney did a fine job of "applying their principal of personal law"...

WHAT are you smoking M?

Oh, M for maryjane, I see!

And where the heck does the Oakland comment come from? Like this woman and her sons who choose not to kill people in other Countries for profit and to fulfil the agenda of a corrupt government, have the power to turn Pleaanton into Oakland?

And to point out more arrogance on your part, there are NICE upscale and safe areas of Oakland, where folks seem to have a much higher level of conciousness than here in P-Town!

Good Greif!

If an American citizen doesn't want their children to go to war, then find a way to keep them out of the service. Any war is evil. It's all about killing, killing, killing, and corporations raking in profits. If you're so gung ho, then send your children to war...even a 3 yr. old can take a bullet. The way wars are fought, it doesn't matter who gets killed as long as the killing brings in profits for somebody. In this case, for American corporations.

Lots of people mouth off and if you've been in the service and want to die for FREEDOM and to spread VALUES, the join up again. What difference does it make if you're too young or too old? Get a gun, purchase a one-way ticket and hit the ground running. Your life expectancy in a hot war isn't very long. May I have your house and all your property if you come back dead? por favor...what I'll do is creat a safe house for illegals so that they can have a nice bed, a hot bath daily and a few meals. Is it a deal?

If you can't keep your filthy mouths shut, then go back to where your ancestors came from.

lolo & Cholo

Parents: Never allow any government to put your children in harms way. The years and years involved in raising healthy and sane children matters and if a sick creep wants you to sacrifice them in a war, find a safe haven for them so a bomb doesn't dismember them. They are your children and it is the duty of parents to keep their children alive and healthy.

Most people have not experienced war. It is all about killing, killing, killing and more killing.

There is no defense against bombs falling on your head. When lunatics use themselves as human bombs, take notice, make a family plan and do everything possible to protect your family.

johnny...I'll keep my eyes & ears on alert...tee hee hee, tee hee hee...if you're in a dying mood, be my guest. Please send your war zone address so that I can send you a small size bag of corn chips.

your friends,

Cholo & lolo

John, although I admire your courage, you are not "providing us freedom" as you think. Actually you are increasing the likely hood that we get attacked by radicals here in the U.S. because your fearless leader neglected to think about any major security here on our soil. I personally know soldiers, as well as ex Blackwater and I have heard first hand about your mercy killings!

Running into a nearby village because a road side bomb hit a transport and raping, beating and executing families!

Get Real!

American boys getting killed are not collateral damage but rather being killed in war on purpose as that is the intent of the Afghanistan fighters. We need to leave Afghanistan right now while we can like the Canadians are going to do at the end of this year.

Linda, are you out of your mind?

Your party's man got us into this mess. We started in Afghanistan, which DOES have terrorist links, who have links to the VERY, VERY small number of Radical Islamists that are linked to 911.

Actually, a SMALL radical fraction in PAKISTAN was behind 911, but Pakistan was/is our ally, so we couldn't invade them.

We started in Afghanistan where terrorist cells were/are being trained to carry out terrorist activities and the we BAILED from Afghanistan to INVADE Iraq, who had NOTHING to do with 911.

Now Obama, as PROMISED in his campaign has begun pulling our troops out of Iraq cities and has increased our troop presence in Afghanistan.

I less than 6 short months, we have accomplished in Afghanistan, MORE than we accomplished during the entire time Bush had us in these wars we started!

We are NOW winning in the fight against the Taliban and their terrorist linked cells as of this month!

BTW, WE have about as many, or rather MORE "terrorist" cells, here in the USA, than these cells in the Middle East and OUR OWN "terrorists" are a MUCH BIGGER THREAT!

THINK!

Jon,

not out of my mind at all and would appreciate if you would be a bit more respectful. I do not believe we belong in either place and need to get out now. Obama promised to get us out of Iraq on day one and that has not happened nor do I believe it will for a long time and you can change the definition all he wants and call them combat troops but they are still our boys and girls in harms way and we need to get them out as the war in Iraq was over before Bush left office and now up to Iraq. Afghanistan is Obama's as he keeps adding more and more troops and more targets. We need to get them out also and focus the resources on closing down our border.

Linda,

I don't think you are being very respectful towards our president or our party! That's a WHOLE lot of people and a WHOLE lot of disrespect!

" Oh that is right as it would mean they would be attacking their idol Obama."

AND I do NOT disagree with your other statement, but I agree.

It is only the last several weeks that we have actually done something worth while in Afghanistan, so at least if we are going to be there, it would be nice to be productive.

I wholeheartedly do NOT condone war, so you and I have similar views!

I am sorry for saying you are out of your mind. The Obama statement triggered me.

You actually seem very down to earth and wise to me in many ways.

PEACE

Jon

Jon,

why are you so very entralled with President Obama. Can I ask for a moment that you step back and honestly reflect on what he has done since becoming our president? Even the most loyal observer has to wonder the benefits of what he is doing and has done. Even those in his own party are beginning to back off of him.
