Obama - Gaffe or Freudian? State, National, International, posted by Ken in South Pleasanton, a resident of the Downtown neighborhood, on Jul 20, 2009 at 3:29 pm
Quote from Obama's recent speech on healthcare:
"The reforms we seek would bring greater competition, choice, savings and inefficiencies to our health care system," Obama said in remarks after a health care roundtable with physicians, nurses and health care providers. "And greater stability and security to America's families and businesses." The White House quickly recognized the mistake and inserted a "sic" in the remarks sent to reporters on Monday afternoon. Josh Earnest, a White House deputy press secretary, said Obama "misspoke" in his remarks. "Everyone knew exactly what he was saying," Earnest said.
Yes, we do know exactly what he is saying. "Inefficiencies" would be increased with this administration's proposed health care reform; as would taxes and access to quality care for our aging population. Don't allow our government to push this costly plan on us in just two weeks. If we are to spend this much money, doesn't the plan deserve more scrutiny and debate than can be had in just two weeks? Even the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), the congress' budget watchdog, has determined that the proposed legislation would drive UP government spending and keep costs RISING at an UNSUSTAINABLE rate. Write, email, or call your representatives and demand more time to debate this proposal.

Thank heavens Bush, nor any other President fouled up a simple sentence. A first grade would know exactly what he meant.
"The reforms we seek would bring greater competition, choice, savings and REDUCE THE inefficiencies to our health care system,"
It's not like Obama crawled out from under a rock and decided that our Heath Care System is in shambles, just like our Social Security system. Boomer, now seniors, and a quickly rising LARGE group of citizens can not afford proper health care. These people PAID into the system for many, many years. The other issues and problems are a plenty. Obama is NOT proposing or creating socialized medicine like Canada.

Of course he is proposing socialized medicine. How naive can you be Jon? Read some of the text of the proposed bill (you can download a copy, its big, but even a first grader could do that). Obama and Pelosi just don't want you to believe it is socialized medicine. If it is so good for the rest of us, why isn't there a mandate in the bill that all government workers and elected/appointed officials are to be switched to the new program when it is implemented? The health care system reform as proposed will be another Social Security System that faces problems much earlier than our Social Security system has. Just look at how 'well' our government health care system tends to the needs of our returning troops. It is at least something, but it is not something to be proud of. When the CBO (Congressional Budget Office) disagrees with the Obama administration assertions about lower costs and increased government expenditures, don't you think we should look more closely at this bill than two weeks of rushed negotiations and pork-packing allows?

There is a Frontline program online that reviews a number of modern countries and their health care programs. Americans should be ashamed of how we treat ourselves on this matter. But view it for yourself and after watching it ... blame it on the boogieman ... or wake up and smell the roses (of change).

Typical of Obama to demand passage of a bill that even he know’s nothing about! Proof once again that his agenda has nothing to do with turning around the economy or improving our lives. It is all about forcing through a socialist system where the federal government controls every aspect of our lives. The republicans need to schedule several “town hall style” meetings throughout the recess and get the message out, before it is too late!!!
