Official White House Staff Pay Report:

Original post made by Annon on Jul 19, 2009

Check out the official July report to Congress on White House Staff Pay.

Seems Obama has literally dozens of "council" lawyers and "personal assistants" as does the first lady. Most of whom make over 100k a year. With his busy schedule, how does he utilize all 500 of these staff? many with surnames such as Rashanda or Jamall! Hmm?

I am a liberal and this makes me really wonder?

I wonder if we can find a similar report from the Bush days? Really?

This is absurd as the $172.000 a year salaries look like "token" figures.

I thought he said everyone was tightening their belt? How many assistant to the assistant of the assistant to the president does one need?

Is this standard of administrations to have a "support" staff of 500 plus? How many $172k a years speech writers and sistant and assistant to the assistant does one need? Multi Million in speech writers a year? He gives only so many speeches! Who's words are they?

I have feeling this is common for any president and were being had as citizens! PERIOD!

An we thought Wall Street was bad! Almost every sector in government is taking cuts, what going on at the white house? Where do these 500 "assistants and advisers live" and how many hours do they work.

Just yesterday I was reading an article that says Hillary Clinton had breakfast with Joe Biden ONCE A WEEK!!

So just how do Barrak and his wife utilize all these people on the "PAYROLL"?? How many of these Jamll characters are from Chicago?

I agree, I think we have been had! I have NEVER heard Congress or any news outlet discuss these staff and salaries!

Just a little fact checking; in case anyone's interested, the following is the actual White House website for the 2009 report:

Web Link

Notice that this report is a listing of EVERY White House Office employee, plus those in the Office of Policy Development, including the Domestic Policy Council and the National Economic Council.

You want to know how many entities exist within the Executive Office of the President and the White House Office? 37. Here's the link:

As for comparing to Bush's list for 2008, it's like apples and oranges, since as noted, that one DID NOT include staff members of the Office of Management and Budget, household staff or military attaches.

As for our current President, I imagine Obama's "busy schedule" is exactly why he, and every other President, requires a large staff. Hello . . . he is running the country after all. Regarding salaries, I only counted 147 of the President's 487 staff listed who had salaries at 100K or higher - not even close to "most". Bush's list reflected 138; but then his list isn't complete.

Oh, and by the way, regarding your little race-baiting digs, each and every name looks like a good old American melting pot name to me. I was actually disappointed there wasn't a "Jamal" or a "Rashanda" to be found - given or surname!

Shouldn't surprise anyone that the guy is a chicago style crook and is just using the same tactics he learned from the weathermen and the chicago leaders he learned from as a "community organizer". The sooner he and his Pelosi friends are the gone the better.

Fred,

Who should we replace him with? Sarah Palin? She would just love to give your tax dollars to wealthy investment bankers who didn't earn it. All you have to do is run your company into the ground and as long as your Wall Street company made big campaign contributions, she'll bail you out.
